Yeah but matched means different things to different people, and people who sell on eBay are apt to have a looser definition of the term. On the other hand I agree with you that 300 bucks for 4 is probably a price that can be beaten. Even if from a reputable, Well established vendor.
Question about tubes
Hello AG folks hoping someone can help me out. I have a Magnum Dynalab MD 109t not the SE version. It takes 4 JJ 6922 Goldpins (what factory installs) . I want to order a new complement of tubes. Are all 4 exactly the same or is there a specific tube purpose I should be aware of such as power or signal etc. I am not versed on tubes. Factory wants $300 Tube Depot $96 bucks thus my question . Thank you in advance for any direction

Yeah, $300 is way too much for JJs. How much you should spend really depends on how you listen. If your tuner is strictly for background music, then go for the Tube Depot set. If you take the time to really listen, then I would suggest going for a quad of Gold Lion tubes. Upscale Audio has them in different grades. I think the "gold grade" would be fine at $39.95/tube. Or, if you want a bit extra, then go for the cryo treatment for an extra $8/tube. |
