Question about tubes

Hello AG folks hoping someone can help me out. I have a Magnum Dynalab MD 109t not the SE version. It takes 4 JJ 6922 Goldpins (what factory installs) . I want to order a new complement of tubes. Are all 4 exactly the same or is there a specific tube purpose I should be aware of such as power or signal etc. I am not versed on tubes. Factory wants $300 Tube Depot $96 bucks thus my question . Thank you in advance for any direction

I don’t know the purpose of each tube in your MD, but unless MD does some extra screening of its tubes, which you would have to ask them about, a low noise, matched set of JJs from Tube Depot should be OK.

Manufacturers often ask a lot more for their tubes. Jim McShane is a tube seller highly regarded for his knowledge of new production tubes and getting people the right tubes. I’m sure he’d be glad to talk to you.
What tom says.  Since the unit specifies four 6922s, the only issue is brand and testing prior to purchase.  Buy from any reputable vendor, like Jim McShane or Kevin Deal, and you'll be fine.  Don't make the question harder than it is,
OP 300.00 for a quad of JJ 6922s is WAY over priced. Good Lord..

That is just about the most middle of the road valve on the planet. BUT to JJ defense they are checked pretty well and seldom fail out of the box..

Here is a set of 8 matched. 229.00 Gold pin, is no big thing..

A set of 4 Golden Lyon NEW matched.. 162.00 gold pin

Personally I like the new EH better than the JJs and GL is better than both and still only 1/2 as good as
Amperex.

300.00 for a quad of JJs, BS. They are a 10.00 single valve at best.. A quad with 100 hour burn in.. 79-99.00 maybe.. A LOT of companies voice with JJ though..  No problems with supply or QC for the most part..

Regards
Yeah but matched means different things to different people, and people who sell on eBay are apt to have a looser definition of the term. On the other hand I agree with you that 300 bucks for 4 is probably a price that can be beaten. Even if from a reputable, Well established vendor.
Yeah, $300 is way too much for JJs. How much you should spend really depends on how you listen. If your tuner is strictly for background music, then go for the Tube Depot set. If you take the time to really listen, then I would suggest going for a quad of Gold Lion tubes. Upscale Audio has them in different grades. I think the "gold grade" would be fine at $39.95/tube. Or, if you want a bit extra, then go for the cryo treatment for an extra $8/tube.
