Why no soud in Sonic Frontiers Line 2 SE preamp

I have Sonic Frontiers Line 2 SE preamp. Every function is working, but no output sound. Badly need advice for direction. Tubes are fine, Mute function works fine, Standby function works. I do not use remote control. When I turn on the line 2, there two red lights on main board. I contacted Part Connection and thy suggested new matched tube set. I borrowed new set and it still did not make output sound. Please help me.

I found this on diyaudio.com

The problem is that I have no output signal.By investigating with the schematic I found that the problem is related to the digital volume control which is made with two CS3310. If I short CS3310 input (pin 9 for instance) and output (pin 11) I obtain output signal (on left channel) at full volume. I did the same with pins 16 and 14 I obtain output signal on right channel at full vol....
JEA48,Yes, when I increased sound leel to my normal listening level, sound from speaker are extremely distorted. Unfortunately, I do not have the remote control. Do you think my preamp was limited output level by remote controller? Is there any method that I can check optical reader. Thanks!
Yes I have checked all connections and source outputs and even my power amp. They are all normal. Though, still my preamp sound level is too low. Why is my preamp output too low? what might be the main reason?

How does the music sound when listening to music from your system? Can you turn the volume control knob untill you reach the volume level that you desire? Does the sound start to distort?

Do you still have the remote control? If so, try using it to control the volume. The volume control knob on the preamp operates an optical reader. Maybe it is going bad. ???

The remote control operation, my understanding, does not use the optical reader.

Thyssen,

Double check all input and output connections.

What are you using for a front end source? CDP? TT?
If CDP does it have 2 sets of outputs? Maybe one set fixed, the other set variable? If so make sure you are using the fixed outputs.

Do you have something else you can use as a source, maybe a DVD player, hook it up to the preamp.

What power amp are you using? Could that be the problem?

If possible do you have a dealer or friend that you could take the Line 2 preamp to and hook it up on their system. That will tell you for sure if the preamp is, or is not, the problem.

Yes my Line 2 opens with 2 sets of three dots and can go standby by pushing stanbay buttom and go to automatically BAL1 with h30.0 and 30.0 output level. I can select nay inputs. If I push tape, then Tape is shown the upper right corner. If I oust SSP, then nothing will be shown in display. Somehow I can listen sound by volume level 65. Why is it so low?
Zd542, yes it worked before I moved. I do not have the remote control. I checked ribbon cable and looks good. I tried different input, but no difference. A new development was that my preamp does make output sound, but output sound level is too low. have to turn up about 65 level to listen. I believe that I used to listen about 20-25level. Any idea why the output volume is too low?
Has it worked in the past or did you just get it? You may want to try taking the batteries out of the remote or moving it far away from the unit. Also, have a look inside and make sure the ribbon cables that go from the main board to the rear board are not damaged or unplugged. Try a different input as well.
When you first power up the preamp you should see 2 sets of 3 green lights on the front display panel.

Do you get that on the front display of the preamp?

Then pushing the standby button a red "mute" is displayed on the front panel. Are you getting that on the front panel display?

After a systems check the red “mute” is replaced by “ Bal 1” on the front panel along with 2 sets of green numbers for preset volume levels. Are you getting that display on the preamp?

Now press the push button for source input desired. That input should be displayed on the front panel.

If all is ok so far next check to make sure the "Tape" push button has not been pushed and the preamp is set to tape loop. Press once and see what happens.

Next check the "SSP" push button has not been pressed. Press once and see what happens.

Post back your results.
