Naim Audio uses seperate power supplies for there amplifiers, preamplifiers, streaming devices. Many units can be fitted with two separate power supplies, one for each channel. The Supernait 3 Integrated Amplifier can also be upgraded by using their HiCap outboard power supply to power the preamp section. Naim recommends using two Naim Frame Audio Racks to separate the large power supplies on one rack and the critical circuitry of the amplifier, preamplifier and streaming devices on the other. Naim’s philosophy - separate the Brian’s from the Braun. This technique keeps any transformer hum from compromising the delicate Audio signal.

@emergingsoul NAIM is a British company. Their equipment is very well made. I’d say the NAIM sound signature is similar to that of McIntosh but priced a bit lower. I heard from a NAIM dealer that their flagship line of amplifiers do come with a separate power source. |
@pedroeb yes pro gear can be used for critical listening not so much with the xti for the fan is loud but can be changed, the xls are nearly silent and I only hear a noise when I put my ear right up to the amp and I can hear the power supply. Keep in mind that pro gear puts out more power so the electric might make some noise since electricity makes a humming noise louder or quieter depending on the amount of power being produced |
