White debris on front of cartridge

Hi all. I’ve noticed when I play vinyl with my Clearaudio Maestro V2 MM, an accumulation of white dust forms on the front of the cartridge. Yet when I play my Hana SL MC cartridge, there’s no accumulation. What’s going on? Is it a tracking force issue? I set each cartridge well within the limits of its recommended tracking force.

I don't think so. Others have reported similar issues. I think it's more of an artifact of the geometry of the stylus and the tip. Also, I've gone away from using an after clean of distilled water after I use the VPI vacuum so maybe I'll start doing that again

I would guess it is static electricity attracting dust. That may also include dust in room (I assume your listening room is not an ISO 14644-1 clean room), so you may get dust on cart when playing clean records. Not sure about the cart body material (plastic would be more prone to static charge), and environmental conditions (e.g., dry air). Using an antistatic gun on a cartridge might be worth a trial, though no idea whether that may cause some bad pops.

Seriously it could be the magnet in the cartridge attracts dust....this might be to simple of an explanation so feel free to consults the experts.
