@slaw
No I totally understand. At least they are original Elektra pressings with the butterfly label. I agree that most European pressings do seem to be mastered "different" to USA pressing.

Eels "Wonderful, Glorious" (10"/lp)

@uberwaltz,
I only asked as the UK was the country of origin...most likely the (best) sounding copies. (You should know this..yes?)
When you said you were privy to a collection, this got my juices flowing.
The reason it all matters to me is SQ. I think someday, it will matter to you.
Peace and love brother.

right now:
Johnathan Wilson "Gentle Spirit" (lp)

Update to Queen albums Elektra was the U.S. release EMI would have been the UK release Does not really matter to much to me. |

Talking of Counting Crows and Collective Soul.
Both are playing at our "new" outdoor concert venue this summer.
Will be catching both.

Just could not help myself
Again
Eat The Elephant... APC
My fave track so far.. "So long and thanks for the fish" |
With the 25% off discounts on vinyl recently, I could not resist.
Currently cleaning the 45rpm Yes "The Yes Album"
May get to Counting Crows "August & Everything After"
(lps) |
I'm going to sneak in a Tune of the Day here. Shhh.....
Yes "Love Will Find a Way". Highly recommended! |
Yes "Big Generator" (lp) Traffic "John Barleycorn Must Die" (lp) United Artist
|
The Black Keys "Attack & Release" (lp)
This may be of interest...if my memory is correct, they were planning on writing some of, or all of this lp with Ike Turner but he passed away.

uberwaltz,
Thanks for your kind words earlier. Thank you and everyone for your contributions to the thread.....Please keep posting!

ghosthouse,
Your previous post was inspiring. They don't write em' like that anymore. I'm going back to pull your recommendations from our earlier discussion and give them my full attention.

Hi @slaw Yup...agree with you about Nine Lives. Have that (though nothing of his more commercially successful releases like Arc of the Diver or Talking Back to the Night). Steve Winwood gets a lot of respect from me...a darn good guitarist, not just a Hammond pilot, and one of the most distinctive voices in popular music. Here's video of SW at Eric Clapton's 2007 "Crossroads" doing Dear Mr. Fantasy. If this don't give you chills....you be day-ed son! The fun really starts at 5 minutes in... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6DYC61HzmtM |
More Robert Plant... Manic Nirvana |
August... Eric Clapton
Synchronicity... The Police
Both on cassette.
Our LRS just throws all the tapes in big boxes and sells them $10 for 5 tapes so I always have a rummage round to see what's new. |
@ghosthouse,
Interestingly, I was thinking about Steve Winwood during the week.
The last lp I bought of his... "Nine Lives". It really is a good lp that, IMO, was overlooked. Harkens back to his earlier stuff.
Have a great weekend!

@slaw
Yes all 3 are I think original UK releases and all in pristine condition. If they have been played it is not many times imho.
Night at the opera is a 1975 Elektra label Day at the races is a 1976 Elektra label News of the world is a 1976 Queen Production |
I absolutely love this thread as its geared towards great music of any medium. Vinyl, CD, streaming, cassette, fm radio you name it, you can post about it right here. Heard a lot of new to me music just from other people's posts here. Great job Nutty!

Nutty
We saw a7x couple weeks ago at Rockville, awesome! Still one of all time fave hard rock bands. Nightmare is their best album imho , not one single bad or filler track on it. Victim is my all time fave a7x track. And back in 89 or 90 saw Queen live at Wembly Stadium, mind blowing stuff.
Have Collective soul on cassette but not vinyl.

|
@nutty,
I've been waiting on some vinyl, finally got one!
|
Incubus, Morning View, CD
Avenged Sevenfold, S/T. CD How great is "Acid Rain"?!!
uberwaltz, great score on Queen! One of my top 20 bands. I saw them with Freddie M. in Cincinnati. Probably the best live show of my lifetime. "Sleeping On The Sidewalk" from News of the World. Never played on the radio, great song.
slaw, I’ve got several Collective Soul on Disc. Those guys are rock stars! Not many people give them enough credibility, IMO.

Collective Soul "Live" (lp)..again...
@uberwaltz,
Were they UKs??
Up next/in the What's on Your TT Tonight thread...
The 2017 re-issue/re-master...Bob Dylan "Love & Theft"
I thought when I ordered it was a Sony / Legacy. Upon reading the back cover, I'm a little confused, as it reads made in the EU. As long as it sounds good, I'm OK.
|
Another very productive trip to our LRS. As I walked in the owner was just putting out some new stuff from a recent collection purchase. Scored 3 Queen albums
So in no particular order the next 3 served up are....
News Of The World A Night At The Opera A Day At The Races
|
La Sera "Hour of the Dawn" (lp) ...something different..... after that,
Robyn Hitchcock "Love From London" (lp)
|
I’m listening to a (gifted) Grateful Dead "Europe ’72" (3 lp set) off and on today as I clean it.
Up Next:
The Jawhawks "Mockingbird Time" (lps)
|
Tift Merritt "Tambourine" (lp) |
Brand new Sevendust album, out today
All I see is War..... Sevendust.
More melodic than some of their older stuff, thumbs up so far.

Streaming Radio Paradise again tonight, so far......

Do not really care what Michael green says, there truly is some poorly recorded and mastered music out there.
This is NOT one of them! Sublime even on cassette. |
