Mozart Symohonies 35 & 40, Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields, Marriner; 1970 Phillips recording.
My wife grew up near 39th and Holgate and worked at Otto's when she was in high school in the late 70s.
@spiritofradio - I just looked Crossroads up- sheesh, I used to live about a mile from there many moons ago. Do you know Otto's Deli on Woodstock? I love their brats!
@spiritofradio - thanks for the tip on Crossroads - I'll have to check it out next time I'm down in Portland.
Kim Hae Jung, piano, with the USSR Ministry of Culture Orchestra, Ghenaddy Rozhdestvensky, conductor - Rachmaninoff Piano Concertos 2&3. This is a Jigu Rcords pressing, apparently only available in Korea, but I found it in a used record shop here in the US.
@ctwith3 - weird about your Bernstein collection, and too bad  - I generally prefer Bernstein to von Karajan.
Rafael Kubelik conducting Borodin Polovtsian Dances and Symphony No. 2, Vienna Philharmonic
@spiritofradio and @bkeske, Vaughan Williams is one of my very favorite composers. I love many of his orchestral works, but he had a wonderful way of writing for the voice. Some of my very favorite choral works are by him: Serenade to Music, Dona nobis pacem, and his motet, "Lord, Thou Hast Been Our Refuge, to name a few.
My listening this evening has been weirdly eclectic: Bread - "Baby I'm-a Want You", Art Pepper - "Winter Moon", Marvin Gaye- What's Going On, "Ringing Strings: Fiddle Music of Norway", and now "British Band Classics: Works by Walton, Holst, and Jacobs" by the Eastman Wind Ensemble, Frederick Fennel, conducting.
So far this evening, JSB Die Kunst der Fuge,  BWV 1080, Herbert Tachezi, organ and  Favorite Baroque oboe concertos, Pierre Pierre, oboe, I Solisti Veneti, Claudio Simon, conductor.
By the way, on Monday I traded in my Pro-ject Debut Carbon for a Rega Planar 8 and what a difference!
Kurt Elling, "Flirting with Twilight." It's one of the Blue Note 75th anniversary reissues.
A wonderful recording I picked up today at a used store: "We're All Together Again for the First Time" Dave Brubeck, Gerry Mulligan, Paul Desmond,  Alan Dawson, Jack Six. Recorded live  in Berlin, Paris, and Rotterdam, the guys were really fired up by the enthusiastic audiences. This record is a new treasure for me.
Nothing on my turntable tonight, I'm afraid. An errant shirtail  caught my tonearm and sent it flying. My beloved Ortofon MC3 turbo with only 88 hours on it now has a bent cantilever.  :-(
So far this evening:
"The Wonderful World of Jazz" - John Lewis
"It's a Blue World" - Mel Torme
"Spirit" - Earth, Wind, and Fire
Vaughan Williams' - "The Lark Ascending" Neville Marriner conducting the Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields, Iona Brown, violin soloist.
"Chet Baker Sings."  A 1957 pressing I found this past weekend.  Sounds pretty good considering it's over 60 years old!
