firstnot, Flame Linears is a similar name I’ve heard applied to them. That amp is the most reliable piece of equipment I’ve ever had. I’m surprised it didn’t burst into flames though when I purchased a Luxman integratd amp to replace it. The Phase Linear 400 pre-amp’s right channel died not long after. I think there is one dealer in Roanoke, Virginia that sells used equipment, but his stuff is much newer.
I’m curious how you came up with $2000. That figure is enough to make me consider selling some of this. I just don’t want to take advantage and unload equipment on people that might end up needing fixing, and figured most of this was old enough to not be very valuable at all.
Since you asked, the brand new equipment is the Luxmann 507ux MkII intergrated amp mentioned above, a VPI Classic 2 turntable, Magico A3 speakers, plus a Marantz, SA8005 CD player purchased about a couple of years ago for the hundred or so CD’s I have. Also a second-hand Shunyata Hydra Denali 6000S power conditioner, and not to mention some overly expensive to my mind Audioquest Rocket 88 speaker cables that arrived today, an Audioquest Colorado interconnect for the CD player, A Shunyata Venom power cable for the Denali, and a VPI interconnect for the turntable. That’s everything. A depleted bank account doesn’t count as a component or I’d mention that too.
inna, I’ve been hoarding some old equipment and a lot of other stuff for so many years, I’ve finally decided to clear out my storeroom to make some space.
mr_m, I’ve gone to the well on fixing my Beogram 4002 and 4004’s one too many times now. It’s already been replaced with a VPI Classic 2 waiting to be set up before my Musico A3 speakers get here hopefully. The Dahlquists only make a noise once in a while, but I’ll check the back grill at your suggestion. That’s definitely a possible noise source.
roberjerman, you obviously have good taste in equipment . How would you go about selling the Phase 400 and DQ-10’s if you were me. I still have all the original boxes and manuals too.
Thank you all,
Mike
