"I wonder what those Magnavox speakers of sevenshy's sound like?"
Probably similar to the WT without the whizzer cones ;-) |
Jug ,did you read Baza's review? http://forum.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/frr.pl?rspkr&1419661158&&&/Wavetouch-Grand-Teton-Gen2-SE-Monitor He seems to love them! He seems like an experienced audiophile. |
Thanks for pointing out the Wavetouch review. Sounds like a ton of speaker for the money and has an in home trial period. Doesn't get much better than that and it sounds like they really stand behind their work!
Read it and weep Sevenwolfy. |
Bam214, I heard them at both AXPONA and RMAF. Floored me in a way that previous Salk designs did not. Some real magic there. |
Yeah I did read baza's review, I haven't read a bad review on WT yet. |
But reviews don't sell me on anything, just like stereophile magazine telling what I need and don't need, I don't buy into that magazine either. but they have measurements and cool spec charts and money changing hands to tell me what's good. |
Wavetouch is very very smart offering a 40 day in home trial. The costumer has very little to lose .($50 to $75 bucks maybe) the owner is so sure you will love them, it's like a money back guarantee . Brilliant idea for a new company. I have heard nothing but great praise by users and reviewers. I think he WT should make models of speakers that are more attractive , thus more people could live with their looks. Many audiophiles use speakers in their living romms with wives that have a say in what can go in. |
They are not that bad looking, not kid friendly for sure. I'd like to see some refinement in the whizzer cone design. I'm in a basement so my wife could care less, she just shakes her head and says I thought the Mozart's were the last speakers and what about the other 20 pairs of speakers before these? I just still haven't found what I'm looking for. That's what attracted me to WT the unusual look, 40 day in home and all the bashing about the whizzer cone. bad press sometimes backfires into good press. |
Tell you what Jughead, I'll give you a 40 day trial on these Magnavox speakers. The secret is in the amplification. .If you're class A..that alone can make any speaker sound great. Even WT..or Magnavox. |
Sevenshy, you may need class A for the Magnavox but probably a lot less for the Wave Touch. I see you spell out Magnavox but not your direct competing brand Wavetouch Audio with it's birch ply, descent drivers, good crossover parts and can't forget the 40 day in home trial!
You are having a real issue with these Wavetouch Audio speakers for some reason. |
Oh my.... Didn't know that class A topology would do so much magic all by itself... I learn something new every day... I should have known... Would have never sold my old 1966 Braun bookshelvers. G. |
Sevenshy,
You must be one lonely, disgruntled, sad excuse for a speaker manufacturer to spend so much effort trying to devalue WAVETOUCH AUDIO... But maybe the word association isn't such a bad one. MagnaVox means MAGNA-VOICE which is exactly what the new GT's are. They sound much larger and more convincingly realistic than any speaker I know of under $5k and perhaps more. Actually, I think that you've helped give WAVETOUCH AUDIO GT LOUDSPEAKERS a new nickname. Because it's fitting. MAGNA-VOICE!!
People who need to devalue others to feel good about themselves are among the lowest of the low. |
"Why complain about that bologna sandwich that they told you was prime rib, until you've eaten it
Does that connect the dots well enough for you? "
It's interesting that the only talk about "complain" ing is from a few that have never heard WAVETOUCH products. That's puts you in camp of those who speak out of their Arses. The only dots connected here are that you still have ZERO basis for delivering an assertion. Bologna served up with animus are the only things to take away from your obvious WAVETOUCH...jealousy...Next |
The WAVETOUCH speaker's will be here today, according to the fedex tracker. so I'll give you my first impressions this pm. After_Hrs I like that nickname MAGNA-VOICE, but I also like WHIZZER-CONE! |
So finally after a lot of trial and error selling and trading I achieved sonic nirvana for me. sold my Parasound a21 amp and p5 pre amp and went with Musical Design t100 amp and the sp1 pre amp. bought two REL t9 subs a Shunyata ps8 line cond Shunyata power cables. Mosaic interconnects and FMS zero speaker cables. the final piece I went with was Intuitive Designs Gamma Summits speakers. these speakers are unreal! soo seamless and pure. I don't even really know how to explain their sound, seamless, organic with a stage that is wide, deep, tall and three dimensional. the sound seems to float. it was explained to me that with the use of carbon fiber nano tube arrays which makes them almost super conductive at room temp and no phase shift is the reason for this. you don't hear individual drivers they just blend, my jaw hits the floor every time I listen. if anyone gets the chance listen to some of the speakers, amps, cables and pre amps that Dale Pitcher designs. then you'll hear what I mean. |
Hey Jughead, You never posted a review of the GTs but obviously they weren't keepers. Can you relate your experience here? I'm very curious as you are probably not a "shill" as many people seem to think the positive reviewers are. Thanks! |
|
Have you heard the Reflectors nyaudio98? If so could you tell us your impressions. |
Hey maprik, the wavetouch are a very well made speaker and sound big for their size but they are just a little to brite for my taste, but i think if you ran them with a tube pre amp they would be outstanding speakers. I really cant say anything bad about them they are fast and detailed well built and easy to drive. the only reason i got rid of them was because i got the Intuitive Design Gamma Summits for the same price and the summits provide that organic seamless sound i was looking for. |
