What's in your CDP tonight? the minority report

I enjoy vinyl and digital (lately, with recent changes, vinyl actually sounds better than digital to me), BUT given what seems an overall preference for analog/vinyl on A'gon, I'm curious what the non-vinyl "1/2" is listening to. I tried to see if this was a previously posted question. Did not seem so.

This evening for me, it's Genesis (definitive edition remaster) "A Trick of the Tail".

Joe Satriani, various.
However I came across this on YouTube. Apparently Joe Satriani, Greg Kihn and drummer Jeff Campatelli briefly formed a pop band called The Squares. Campatelli was named as a top 50 best drummers by Rolling Stone Ragazine. Here is a sample.

Jon Butcher - Pictures from the Front

Nick Robertson - Bullet Proof Boy (go find this one, still great after 26 years)

Bob Mould - Black Sheets of Rain

Staind - Break the Cycle (amazing SQ for a heavy alternative record)

The Grays - Ro Sham Bo (very good SQ and amazing composition/playing)
I’ve got the blues today!!

pokey77,

You are the first person I've ever seen reference Pete Townsend's "Iron Man". I remember getting it when it first came out and I wore out "Dig" and "A Friend is a Friend".

Happy New Year and Enjoy the Music.....
Hey nutty - a little behind checking out posts to this thread. Glad you are checking out Cuby. Old but good. From a time before MTV ruined things.

Back at you with some Alice Cooper. Never a huge fan but "Killer" holds my interest...sort of prog influenced as weird as that might be for him/them.

Some great music suggestions from many... Reubent, you have reminded me about Concrete Blond & Crack the Sky. Need to reacquaint myself.
ruebent,

You said "I wore out "Dig" and "A Friend is a Friend"." I remember hearing Dig on the radio when the record came out and they played it allot and I was overjoyed to hear it each and every time. I found the CD used a number of years later and bought it for just that song. It's been some time since I last listened to the Iron Man but I'm glad I let it play to  "A Friend is a Friend". Another little gem on this record.
Counting Crows - "August and Everything After" and "This Desert Life"

I haven't listened to these in a while. I'd forgotten how much I enjoy them.
@ghosthouse - thanks for the shout.... I started listening to Crack the Sky in College. Two of my roommates were from Weirton, WV where CtS was formed.

My wife bought me the double CD of Crack the Sky (ST) and White Music for Christmas. When I opened it I was surprised to see that it was signed by John Palumbo. Cool stuff........
@reubent
Very nice.  Signed copy.  My spouse is exceedingly DISinterested in my music listening (though I do bore her from time to time with some new discovery).

I seem to remember hearing the band name, CtS, on FM radio (probably WNEW out of NYC) back in the day (along with the likes of Atomic Rooster, Vanilla Fudge etc.).  Don't recall the music, however.

Listening last night, I was struck by similarity to Queen's harmonies in that CtS album; eg., Killer Queen from Nov 1974's Sheer Heart Attack (the LP Wiki says "cemented" their radio sound and certainly the first thing by them I remember hearing tho' their 3rd LP).  CtS' debut released 1975.  Timing is so close, tough to say if Q influenced CtS or whether they were all listening to similar stuff.

Re your World Party.  I have everything I can get by Karl/WP.  Got Private Revolution in vinyl when it first came out and latest Dumbing Up but also Arkeology.  Track 10, Love Street, from Goodbye was/is one of the best songs ever, IMO.  Thanks for posting.

The Band - Cahoots, SHM-SACD. My first SHM. I'm trying to decide if I like it. I don't have any other version to compare it with except one track, Life Is A Carnival, on a best of CD. The SHM seems very bright, thin is more like what I hear. I can tame it pretty well by replacing my WireWorld Luna 7 ICs with an old pair of AQ Alpha-snakes. A set of WireWorld Oasis 7s is coming today. I'll see what they do.

Also Doobie Brothers The Captain & Me, Mofi SACD. Both were on sale from Music Direct. This one is better than I expected! Never appreciated the guitar work on my car radios.
