What is the weird "fisheye" pic on so many items?

What is the weird "fisheye" pic on so many items? Seems about ½ listings have this limited view.  Why would you post this way or is it related to the Featured premium price?

Audiogon thinks its GREAT EVERYBODY HATES IT BIG TIME!!THEY WILL NOT CHANGE IT BACK>>>HELLO!!!!!!!!
IMO it makes the item look insignificant or inferior to the full pic item. So is it just random that some get "fisheye" and others get a full pic?
I do not believe it is a coincidence that Audiogon sales have fallen right off right about the time this cockamamey " view" was introduced.
Many ,like the OP here, have no clue what is going on and usually end up saying " fug it" and shopping elsewhere.
I truly wish Agon would stop being so hard headed over it and just drop it.
Either they paid some web designer a fortune for it and are determined to see it through.
Or it is internal and now a case of stubborn false pride over it.

Whatever it is not helping hard to come by sales one little bit.

IMHO
Change to the "classic View" on the upper right hand corner, just below the yellow line and you won't see the fish eye view. It will become your default.
@dill650,
That is correct. Unfortunately for people who do not store the cookies in the cache, they have to change the settings every time they log into the site.
Perhaps the dumbest thing ever seen on a site where people pay to sell stuff.  I would be fired if I ever came up with something that intentionally degraded the look of my web site like that.
William, I guess you missed the design change. That "peephole" or fisheye effect is placed on every private seller's photos. Everybody hates it. A "classic" view was created due to pressure from members.

It in no way enhances sales, in fact I believe that potential buyers have been lost due to the change.

It's like putting your foot in a bear trap on purpose. Once you decided to do it and no matter how painful it is, some people just have trouble admitting they are wrong.

I am in 100% agreement that a lot of sales have been lost due to that silly move.
And yes they caved and gave us an option to go back to classic view but new visitors do not see or know that and end up thinking WTF and just leave as it looks insane.

Pride comes before a fall......
It seems like "featured listings" do not have the fisheye. I think that its an incentive to pay for an upgraded listing.
With all of the recent agon changes, the vast majority revolve about increasing  revenue.
Its a business......
@william321

Thanks for posting this, I was thinking about starting a thread til I saw yours.
I'll take my business elsewhere..........

I honestly believe many already have
