I can assure you that any hum and noise from the line will impact the sound ina most negative way, far beyond the tiny hum you might hear. Get rid of all of it, even it takes you a few days of debugging. I do mean all of it, too. If you can hear it at 3 am with the volume turned up high and your ear next to the speaker, you have too much of it.
The Star Quad speaker cables have made the most sense to me and I bought several hundred feet of it to rewire the Big Stereo and the two home theaters.
