What are Zobel filters?

I have a new situation developing since I purchased my Wadia 781i CD Player. My ears ring as I listen to the music.

I was told that my problem is that I'm in a small room, 10' x 12.5'. The Wadia 781i is putting out such an extreme frequency range and my Spectron amp is faithfully amplifying it. I've spent about $12k on my upgraded and speakers and outboard crossoves, and they're passing along the wide range signal.

I was told that a Zobel filter attached to the tweeter's binding post would filter the extra high frequencies from the tweeter.

Are the Walker High Definition Links and Bybee SE Speaker Filters Zobel filters, or are Zobel filters something different?

Thanks,
Chuck

Not so. A Zobel filter is meant to linearize the impedance of the driver or the cable so that the crossover does a better job.

What you need are acoustical treatments unless the Wadia (or something else) is defective.

Wide range signals do not couse the ringing in your ears.....Digital amps do.

Wadia are not the only players that produces wide frequency amp ,and Spectrons are far from the Only amps that has wide bandwith,BUT common to almost all digital amps are the sharpness that make for 'painful'long term listening..

change your amps, and your problem will be solved!!!

After you've heard some excellent Class D amps and developed your listening skills a bit, I'm sure your opinion will change.

Good luck to you.
