Playing from my "Discovered" playlist on Spotify, via my new WIIM mini streamer. So, folks on the fence about streamers, try the WIIM mini. It's $89 on Amazon right now and it's very easy to set up. I'm using the optical digital output into my DAC and it sounds pretty good. I don't have Tidal or Qobuz to try CD or greater resolution. But Spotify sounds really good. Better than any ot the other streaming methods I've used to date. All of those were relatively budget options also, but the WIIM mini is currently sounding the best of the bunch. |

@16f4 I haven't seen many new releases recently that have gotten me excited. I've been spending more time streaming old favorites or spinning vinyl. |

Didnt care for either the Mitski or the Cate Le Bon. Not my usual listening, but maybe I wasn’t in the right frame of mind. However, I did find a few things I liked:
Studio One Presents…More Soul Qobuz Hi-Res Old school reggae and Ska.
Black Country, New Roads - Ants From Up There Qobuz Hi-Res Hard to describe, but really got me chill.
Lucile Boulanger - Bach & Abel: Solo Qobuz Hi-Res
Gystere - A Little Story Qobuz Hi-Res Can’t find out anything about this group. Lots of different genres/sounds. Eclectic, even.

Well, it’s been a hectic month, with taking care of my wife after her surgery, finishing the kitchen renovation after several months of logistical problems, and a tree hitting our house. Barely had time to listen to music and I’ve been remiss in posting. Allison Russell - Outside Child Qobuz Hi-Res I scour end-of-the-year “best of” lists, looking for music I overlooked. This album reminds me why I do that. Transcendent voice, wonderful engineering, delicate instrumentation. I listened to this album first with my favorite headphones (HIFIMAN HE 400i’s) and immediately played it again through my Dirty Weekends. |

My internet connection has been hinky the past few weeks. Enough drop-outs to interfere with my music listening. Oh yeah, and my wife works from home so there’s that… Finally called Xfinity about it. They came by this morning and quickly identified the problem (junction box servicing this cul-de-sac). So now my (music) streaming is regular and my wife started her vacation today. |
