So, I just opened up Amazon Music on the BluOS app. Discovered that just about every CD and LP I have bought on Amazon over the past 20+ years is accessible. Kinda weirded out by this. |
I’ve been having this problem with my PowerNode 2i these past few months, where I plug in the headphones but I still have some sound coming through my speakers. Just a minor annoyance, nothing to get worked up about. This afternoons firmware update seems to have fixed the issue. But while trying to test Amazon Music streaming I discovered that BlueSound now supports MQA! The Jazz Re:Fest 2020 is set to stream out of the UK on August 23. |

Too funny. I had a friend with a Loverboy bandana deal that was pretty amusing. |
No problem ovinewar!
They are a blast from my past. My college roommate was huge into the whole New Romantic era. He used to dress just like Gary Numan! Scary..... |
The Human League.... Hadn't heard that name in many years. May sample some later. Thanks for the reminder.

I really liked Hornsby's last release - Absolute Zero. This new one isn't as good (to me), but still pretty good. |
I passed over the new Hornsby release as never been overwhelmed by some of his output. Might at least have to give it a listen. |
Like Big Greg from a few days ago - I’m listening to Bruce Hornsby’s new release - nonsecure connection. First time listening to it and I’m finding it quite good!

The Chromecast only supports up to 24/96. The Node will do 24/192 on coax output I am sure but not so sure on the toslink? What digital inputs does the 105 have or would you be needing to bring signal in via stereo RCA analog inputs? |
A lot of people use the Bluesound for the streamer and its interface (it has one of the best apps) and use an external DAC. That's how I have it set up in one of my systems. |
Does Chromecast support 24-bit/192kHz streaming? I love my Oppo 105 with the Modwright tube modifications, so I'd rather keep it. I don't need a streamer that has its own DAC or storage, but I guess I could buy a Bluesound Node and bypass its internal DAC.
|
Maybe you have another device that supports it that you could output to the Oppo's DAC?
Thats where I was leaning with the Chromecast, it could then output via mini toslink to the Oppo to use its dac. Especially if they need to keep the Oppo anyway to play movies, CD etc. |
@jonandfamily The Windows desktop version of Qobuz has beta support for UPnP/DLNA, but I haven't tried it, other than to see if it "sees" either of my Oppo players (105D and BDP203). It doesn't. Maybe you have another device that supports it that you could output to the Oppo's DAC?
Again, I'd just get a streamer, but if you're determined to use the Oppo there might be a way, but not streaming to it directly. |
Or take the elcheapo route for now. Google Chromecast Audio mini streamer ( still around $50 on eBay). This in conjunction with bubbleupnp on an Android device will get you streaming Qobuz.
Or if your rig can use Bluetooth you could just install Qobuz app on your phone or tablet and stream direct from that to your bt enabled rig.
As Greg says though the Oppo is not going to work for Qobuz unfortunately. |
@jonandfamily You need an app to stream each service. If Oppo doesn't have an app for Qobuz, they never will. That device is long in the tooth and they are out of the disc player business.
You could get a streamer and send the signal to the Oppo's DAC, but you'd be better off just getting something like a Bluesond Node 2i.

I opened a discussion on Tech Talk Forum yesterday without a response. Maybe someone here can point me in the right direction. I want to change from Tidal to Qobuz and use my Oppo DAC. The Oppo has ability to directly stream from Tidal but not from Qobuz.
"How do I stream Hi-Res Qobuz to my Oppo BDP105. It is currently connected to the modem/router via ethernet cable and my controller is an iPad with the Oppo MediaControl app. Do I need a BubbleUPnPServer? If so, what do you recommend? Please direct me if this has been discussed elsewhere."

Streaming KAOS radio this morning. |
Roon may be getting some content from allmusic. There's so much content sharing these days. |
Greg That is exactly how Roon lists it too with Way on drums but I cannot imagine that is anything but a serious typo as Dunbar is the drummer surely with Way on bass, never read anywhere that Way could or did play drums in any professional capacity. Vocals and bass only i think |
Whitney - Candid, Qobuz Hi-Res. Not my usual fare, but easy to listen to. |
Uber, you should check out the Allmusic review of that Mogg / Way album. Pete Way is the drummer according to them. Along with Aynsley Dunbar. |
Edge of the World ...... Mogg/Way

Middle Eastern music. Don't know what or by who but some of it is really exotic and interesting. Maybe Chinese tomorrow. |
UFO - Strangers in the Night, Tidal |
welcome to the world of streaming nrthomas!
As you have found out the SQ of Qobuz is vastly superior to Spotify but Spotify does have larger catalogue so your pays yer money and takes yer choices. Using an external DAC especially the Cary is a great move with the Node, should sound stellar. Enjoy |
