What 4 or 5 sacds should I have?

My Denon 2910 DVD player can play cd and sacd, but I have just been using it for movies. I do have it hooked up to a Nad integrated and Definitive technology speakers, with good cabling and a Hydra power conditioner. Maybe it would be worth having a few sacds to play when I'm futszing around down stairs. What sacds will bring me home? I'm a jazz man, but can go Stones to Opera. thanks in advance, warren

1) Eat A Peach - Allman Brothers.
2) Time* Sex* Love - Mary Chapin Carpenter.
3) The Girl from Ipanema - Getz/Gilberto.
4) Waltz for Debbie - Bill Evans Trio.
5) At the Copa - Sam Cook.
John
Rolling Stones/ Let it Bleed
Bob Dylan/ Blood On the Tracks or my personal favorite Infidels.
Patricia Barber's "Nightclub" is supposed to be demo quality on SACD according to a review I recently read. I have the redbook CD, and it's great... I'm a huge fan of hers - her singing and her piano playing are second to none (sorry, Diana, and I'm originally from Nanaimo, too!).
for got to mention the best among all of them: Creedence Clearwater Revival....huge difference from the old redbook CDs
for rock...all the Rolling Stone, Steely Dan, Elton John and Police issues are very good.

Dan, I have The Life of a Song in plain ole cd. Drop dead recording. Better in sacd, huh? I almost didn't recognize you without your "magic" one liner gems...lol..
peace,
warren :-)
Warrenh...AIX is a recording label, with audiophile objectives. Of course you know what a DVDA is. You could play these discs in two channel, but their exceptional qualities will not be evident in that mode.
Here's a couple:

Jazz - Clark Terry "One on One" (Chesky records)
Classical - Scheherazade (Rimsky-Korsakov), Fritz Reiner and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (RCA Living Stereo)
Opera - Falstaff (Verdi), Colin Davis and the LSO (LSO Live)
Rock - Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy (Elton John)
or Brothers in Arms (Dire Straits)

Those are some of the best ones I've heard.

Cheers.
Warren-

Telarc SACD-63598- Geri Allen -The Life of a Song
Dave Holland,Bass and Jack Dejohnette.drums

Best best DSD recording I've heard.

Aloha,

Dan
Elton John- Goodbye Yellow Brick Road-Madman Across the Water-Captain Fantastic-Dire Straits-Brothers in Arms Pink Floyd-DSOTM But my favorite is(drumroll please)...................Steely Dan-Gaucho
Sounds like you are set up for multichannel, and video. If so, latch on to an AIX DVDA. Sound quality is every bit as good as SACD, but the extra features, which SACD can't offer, are amazing.
1. The Girl In The Other Room -Diana Krall
2. Sisters and Brothers- Eric Bibb,Rory Block,Maria Muldaur
3. Motown-Michael McDonald
4. The Red Hot Ray Brown Band
5. Johnny Hartman and John Coltrane
Hi Warren,

Here is a variety of attention grabbers that may interfere with your futszing around:
1. Five Songbirds, A Reference Collection of Female Vocalists, FIM SACD 048. If any of the ladies resonate with your tastes, you can check out their CDs in the FIM catalogue and elsewhere. If none of these lady's voices stop your futszing, check your pulse.
2. Norah Jones, Come Away With Me, Blue Note Records. Excellent Recording.
3. Songs of the Auvergne, Netania Davreth's version is the most lyrical, Vanguard Classics VSD 502.
4. Cantate Domino, Proprius PRSACD 7762.
5. The Sound of Glory, Telarc SACD 60579.
6. Vivaldi, The Four Seasons, Sonatori De La Gioiosa Marca, FIM SACD 052.
7. Vivaldi, La Stravaganza, Rachel Podger/ Arte Dei Suonatori, Channel Classics, (2 disc set) CCS SA 19503.
8. And for something extra-ordinary: Autumn Yearning Fantasia, FIM SACD M 060. Selection of pieces played on Chinese instruments. This is truly a reference quality recording. It was selected as the demonstration reference for the Multi-Channel Recording Seminar, entitled "The New Realism" at the 2003 AES Convention.

Great Listening,
John
the stones' 'let it bleed' is very well engineered... it sounds like 5 guys in a room playing acoustic instruments, not a muddy wall of rock instruments
Mercury Living Presence released in October 2005 five new classical sacds. As of yesterday, they were on sale at TOWERRECORDS.COM for $14.24 each and free shipping on orders of two or more cds. I highly recommend all five titles.

I tried to post a thread alerting members about the sale but for some strange and unexplained reason Augiogon management saw fit not to post my thread!!!!!
Hi Warren,
I have some SACDs but the ones below get played the most.
Roxy Music-Avalon
Willie Nelson-Stardust
Pink Floyd-DSOTM
Nickelcreek-self titled
Elton John-Madman across the water or Honky Chateau
