want to replace my Marantz CD player

Hello,

My current set-up consists of a Marantz SA14-se SACD/CD player, McIntosh C2200/MC2102 amps and PMC OB1i speakers.

I am thinking to replace my Marantz with the Project CD Box RS2T/ DAC Box RS2. My Marantz needs to heat up in order to read the CD and I have a feeling that it doesn't play properly the information from the left channel, which is perfectly audible when I use its DAC to play FLAC files from my laptop.

The first issue developed since few months, while the second was always there, but I could realize it only since few weeks when I've started to listen files from the computer.

What do you think? Is the ProJect transport/DAC combo going to be an upgrade?

- getting the Marantz repaired is complicated in Romania

- the Marantz player was the best option I had at the time, within my budget, to replace my McIntosh MVP 851 player, which decided one day not to open the CD tray anymore. No options for professional repair either. The SA14S1-se never excited me like the MVP did.

- in conclusion I was thinking that maybe I should try a different brand.

agree on the Ruby...friend upgraded from SA14S1 to Ruby and was substantial upgrade...I owned the Ruby and it is excellent as CD Player and DAC...

Why don't you get the Marantz repaired?  If you like the Marantz sound, the KI-Ruby SACD player has been on sale.
