Violion concertos/Symphonies....part 2

Looking for melodic, dramatic, and energetic performances with seamless transitions between movements....any help? Easy listening with some power

Would second Jtimothya on his melodic choice but would be willing to specify Emil Gilels, almost any version, his playing had a romantic lyrical ring on almost anything he played including the slow movement of a haydn piano concerto in D, sorry to provide a tangential movement from the main theme
Hi Tim, we do enjoy the 20th century British composers here. And so much seems to fit in to what I think Phasecorrect is asking for.

The prize for "The Most Seamless Transition" between movements goes to Jean Sibelius for his 2nd Symphony, movements 3 and 4. Okko Kamu on DG or Barbirolli on Chesky

Melodic - Beethoven's Fifth Piano Concerto - The Emperor, too many to list

Dramatic - Mendelssohn's Symphony in A Minor, 'The Scotch', Peter Maag, or Mahler's 2nd, 'Resurrection', Fischer

Rushton - nice to the see a list with several Brits on it - Holst, EJ Moeran, Finzi, et al

Tim

Beethoven Violin Concerto with David Oistrah and Cluytens,
Beethoven V and VII. symphony Carlos Kleibert, DG,
Schubert IX symphony, Karajan
Schumann II. Rheinesche Symphony, Karajan
Brahms Violin Concerto, Ana Sophie Mutter and Kurt Masur,
Mahler II, Fischer Ivan, Channel Classic or Klemperer Decca
Tchaikovsky VI symphony, Gergiev
Bartok Concerto, Frith Reiner, RCA Living Stereo,
Shostakovich XIV symphony, Barshai
If you are inclined to follow the Hilary Hahn lead, let me suggest her pairing of the Brahms and Stravinsky Violin concertos. Best Brahms I've heard, and I've heard a bunch. The Stravinsky is just as good. Also try the Bach Partita no. 3 if you like solo violin. Both on Sony. Both fit your "easy listening with some power" criterion.
I would never put these in the "easy listening" category, but you may find them attractive listening:
