I’m thinking of buying the JVC Victor X-1 with DT-X1 IIE Stylus and titanium cantilever. Would this be better than the JICO Shibata? Thanks. Do you want a Frankenstein? DT-X-1IIe is not for X-1 cartridge, it’s for X-1II cartridge. Styli of X-1 and X-1II are completely different, don’t buy X-1 cartridge if you don’t have an original stylus, you can’t use JICO on X-1 ! JICO was made for X-1II series ONLY, but it’s day and night comapred to the original. I have an original DT-X1IIe stylus in the box and original X-1IIe cartridge with original stylus if you need a proper combination. The better and much more expensive cartridge is definitely X-1IID (Beryllium/Shibata) factory pre-mounted on Victor headshell, this cartridge is a killer! I have NOS sample. Don’t forget that Shibata was invented by JVC/Victor and Beryllium cantilevers are no longer available from any manufacturers. X-1IIe with Titanium hollow pipe cantilever and nude Elliptical stylus is also great cartridge, but X-1II with Beryllium/Shibata is just better. Jico alluminum cantilever and bonded Shibata stylus is the worst for such a great carts as Victor. It’s the last thing i would buy for them. If you don’t have original stylus for Victor then it’s better to buy another inexpensive great cartridge like Pickering XSV-3000 with nude Stereohedron stylus. Unfortunately an expensive Jico SAS only compatible with Z1 series and in my opinion it does not make sense, because for that price fully original Stanton/Pickering with Stereohedron available on used market. |

Do you still have this? Best wishes. -uc |
