Upgrade under $1000. Aragon or?

I'm considering a system upgrade
possibly replacing my Acurus A-150 with Aragon 4004mkII.

Once I got to thinking about it, I started to consider where the money would be best spent. I'm pretty happy with the input/output devices so I'm looking around at AMP/Preamps.

current config:

Pre: Acurus RL-11
Amp: Acurus A-150
Speakers: Dahlquist DQ-20
Sub: M&K (not sure of the model-Big)
Active x-over: Rane AC22
CD/Sacd: Sony SCD-CE775 (Matt Anker modified)
Vinyl: Denon DP-45F TT, Grado gold, Musical Fidelity X-LPS phono preamp.

The budget is kind of limited so I'm looking
to get the most bang for my buck.
Thanks in advance.

Agree with above. Acurus and Aragon will sound very similar, and the Acurus you have is nice. I had Aragon stuff a while ago which was nice but I had a Musical Fidelity 3.2 int amp and my current Joilda 502brc and like both better.
I have owned the Aragon and Acurus products, and for what you're looking to spend, I much prefer integrateds from Naim, Portal and Primare.
aragon and acurus are owned by the same company and to my knowledge their amps share the same architecture, so i'm not sure you'd hear much difference. in any event your amp/pre are very good and certainly on a par with what you'll find in their price range. if you want a different sonic signature, you might try a tube pre or integrated (jolida, shengya, etc.)
In your budget you'll probably get the most bang for the buck with an integrated amp. You may be able to get a nice Ayre, Plinius or Krell for under $1500 used. Then you can sell your preamp and amplifier. IMHO it's not worth going to seperates until your willing to spend more $$$.
