If you are going towards computer, get a DAC that can handle USB. The Arcam is great as a transport. Once you get everything on a computer or network hard drive you will love it.
Upgrade CDP, or go with outboard DAC?
Hi group,
I'm trying to figure out the best way to proceed: I have two older Arcam CD players: the Alpha 9, and the MCD. I'm debating buying a Rega Saturn-R (my amp is a Rega Elicit-R...like the synergy; also the Saturn has a good DAC)......or, should I, instead, go for a better outboard DAC, and use the Arcams as transports. Both are in very good condition.
I've been looking at the Wyred4Sound DAC-2 DSDse and the NAD M51;
I primarily listen to CDs, and am moving toward more computer-based audio.
Thanks, in advance, for your advice. Also....open to other suggestions,
Jeff
