I've compared Salk with Dynaudio, Martin Logan, Fritz, Ascend Acoustics, Klipsch RP 600M but not with Tyler. Tyler intrigues me.
Tyler Acoustics and Salk
Has anyone here had the opportunity to compare relatively equal levels of the Salk and Tyler Acoustics speakers? I heard some Tyler that were a model or two above the Salk and liked the Tyler better, but they were higher a priced model. Curious how they compare to each other with a more equal model match up. Because of course the Tyler's I liked better were out of my price range. If you've heard enough of both brands to have a preference, speak up. I'm curious if there is a group consensus that favors one over the other.

@labguy The Ascends beat out the Salks, but it's important to be specific. The Salks I had were the SS6M -- and they beat out a lot of the other speakers I mentioned. However, the Be tweeter on that speaker was too much for my room, and so the RAAL tweeter on the Ascend towers was better. What to conclude? Not that much from what I've said. Salk makes a fantastic speaker and a beautiful one at that. Much more beautiful than the Ascends. I could easily imagine a Salk speaker with a RAAL tweeter might be the bomb. I do think the engineering done on Ascend speakers is superior -- more R&D, more testing. That's the emphasis. I do not know the R&D at Salk, but I do know the time, energy, and money devoted to their cabinetry is exceptional, and I cannot help but speculate that it is a fair portion of the end cost. If one wants a beautiful looking speaker with an exceptional amount of engineering, I think one is looking at speakers 2x or 3x or more. |
@winoguy17 would that pair you showed me work best With a pass labs INT-150 integrated, a McIntosh ma5300, or a benchmark ahb2 amplifier?:
