Thrift shop find, Ohm Speakers

I found a pair of speakers at a local thrift shop today. They are a 2 way pair of bookshelf speakers. I couldn't find a model number, only the name Ohm on the back. The front of the speaker also says Ohm in the upper right hand corner. I didn't have my cell phone with me so I couldn't take a picture. The store owner didn't know if they worked but they are being sold for 20.00 a pair. Is it worth me buying these to play around with? Were their 2 way speakers any good? The only Ohm speaker I remember were the F with the large Walsh driver. These look to be just a pair of 2 way speakers. The cabinets were around 24 inches high, 10 inches wide and 12 inches deep

Consider yourself lucky. I know a verfy well respected speaker repair guy who dreads fixing walsh speakers. If these ply enjoy them.
Great find. You are very lucky. Whenever I go to the thrift stores I find cheap garbage.

To try and find the Ohm speakers you now have check out this page.

These are not Ohm Walsh, but for $20 you can't go wrong. There must be some marking that indicates what model it is. If you can't find that, you can call Ohm. They are extremely helpful over the phone.

The OP's original post explained that these are 2-way bookshelf speakers and therefore do not use Walsh drivers. The Ohm bookshelf speakers (with conventional woofer and tweeter) were pretty good. If they're functional at $20 of course they're worth buying. If the woofers have rotting foam surrounds, they're still worth buying because re-foaming is a cheap and easy fix.

If the speakers are shot, talk 'em down to $5-10, in which case they're easily worth it for the enclosures. Then buy new drivers from PartsExpress, Madisound, or Zalytron.

Note to the OP: Are the thrift shop speakers something like this?
Before my audiophile days I went to an audio shop to buy the Ohm C's, but they were out of stock and did not know when they would get more. My ears at that time (the 70's) loved them. For the OP, as you can see, Ohm refurbishes many of their vintage discontinued speakers.
