Surround Theater Speakers Suggestions

I am currently using a B&W CM5 and one of my speakers blew and looking to replace the pair.

Are in-wall surround speakers good? Or should I go for B&W bookshelf type speakers.

Your surround speakers are supportive, not primary like the left, center, and right speakers. I have a very high-end theater installation, but, after a lot of investigation, I ended up purchasing Arendal 1723 THX speakers as my surround speakers. They have proven to be excellent. For me, their job has been to reproduce -- with high accuracy -- what they are sent by my preamp/processor; their bass capabilities below 80 Hz are not that important. A pair will cost you $1,849, and financing is available.

Good luck!

A friend of mine used in-ceiling speakers located a couple feet behind the main seating and it worked really well.  Being in the ceiling produced a nice, distant, diffused sound that blended very well and produced a very enveloping and immersive experience. It was so good (and so unobtrusive) that when I do my HT I’m gonna set up my rear speakers this way.  Hope this helps, and best of luck.

I've been amazed by the sound and convenience of the Sony HT A9.  I use it everyday, whereas I rarely used the Bryston SP3 and KEF LS50s..

Oh no. I guess my post on a surround sound preamp will get me shunned as well.

I do have Sonus Faber Concertos from 2004 and when I blew the woofer I was able to get a replacement and was easy to install.  I would try to google a replacement / repair part to fix whatever was blown first is that is an option for you.  usually not much money either.

This site is primarily focused on high quality two channel audio and is probably not the ideal site to get most helpful response to your question.

I would try either

www.hometheaterreview.com or www.soundandvision.com

Good luck with it.
