Balanced wiring for Sennhesier 800 S LavriCables can do it. I made a mistake about the balanced inputs to the QX-5. They're 3.5 mm, not 1/4". So I need two cables with male 3.5 mm plugs at one end and Sennheiser 800S connectors at the other. The cables should be wrapped together ...
Balanced wiring for Sennhesier 800 S The Ayre QX-5 uses separate left and right inputs for balanced, so I need a cable with two 1/4" connectors to the QX-5 and two connectors to the Sennheiser 800S, essentially separate left and right cables wrapped together and split out only at the...
What did you add to your 2 channel system to do HT? I replaced my surround processor, amps, and speakers with a Sony HT A9 setup for immersive sound. A big surprise was how good Roon streamed to the setup via HDMI from the Nucleus sounds. Ultimate decluttering.
KEF LS60 WIRELESS + KC62 SUB OR HEGEL H390/KEF R7 META + KC62 SUB? I replaced Ayre Twenty series DAC, preamp. amp, KEF Reference 1s, and a pair of Velodyne HGS-15s with KEF LS 60 and a pair of KC62s. No regrets. I did retain the Ayre DX-5 DSD.
Time to change I’m using the predecessor to the Sony Quad, the HT A9 and SW5 sub via eARC with my 85" Sony TV. It’s sound can be immersive so excellent for HT as expected, but not expected it’s quite good for music streamed from Roon. I use an Oppo 205 as the so...
What is the Current Guidance on Stereo and AV Configurations We went a different way. We replaced our rarely used 6.2 surround setup that used stereo bypass with a Sony HT A9 SW5 Dolby Atmos setup that's surprisingly good for music via Roon from the Nucleus. We installed a KEF LS60 with a pair of KC62 sub...
Planning a vintage setup The Ayre AX-7e integrated and C5xeMP disc player sound so good with the KEF Reference 1s I may forego setting up the modern Ayre gear. I have a vintage Ayre DAC that could take USB from the Roon Nucleus and send balanced analog to the AX-7e. A...
Planning a vintage setup I tried the Ayre AX-7e integrated with KEF Reference 1s, and the sound was excellent, but those speakers will be used with modern Ayre gear. I may try it with a Magnapan LRS. Any suggestions about vintage speakers?
Planning a vintage setup Turns out none of the Proceed Amp 2s is functional, and after soul-searching I doubt I really want to sell the modern Ayre gear. I envision a simple setup of DAC, preamp, and amp with KEF Reference 1s, maybe subs but no surround. A Sony HT A9 SW5 ...
Fuse for Parasound JC 1 monoblock A $2 fuse (5 for $10 from Amazon) seems to do the trick. Lights are on in both the JC 1 monoblocks and the JC 2 preamp. Now I need a pair of AAA batteries for the remote to try the Parasound trio with the KEF Reference 1s. Sources will be discs...
Magnapan LRS+ VS .7 I'm setting up a Parasound JC 2 preamp and JC 1 monoblocks I haven't used in years to try with KEF Reference 1s. This thread encourages me to drag a pair of LRS out of the garage to try with the JC 1s (400 watts@8Ω, 800@4Ω). The LRS are light en...
Fuse for Parasound JC 1 monoblock Thanks. I'll order fuses from Amazon tonight.
Oppo 205 with Parasound JC-1s Having now reread John Atkinson's review of the JC 2, I'll use it. All components except the JC 1s will be in the Salamander rack; the JC 1s will flank the rack. It's only a minor downsizing regression. So the setup will be Oppo 205 or Nucleus,...
Oppo 205 with Parasound JC-1s If a preamp is needed to match Oppo 205 outputs with JC 1 inputs I have a JC 2. All components could be accommodated in my Salamander rack for a tidy package.
Oppo 205 with Parasound JC-1s I have listed an Ayre QX-5 Twenty, KX-5 Twenty, and VX-5 Twenty for sale. A Bryston SP-3 processor and two NAD amps will follow, and perhaps four LS50s, three Velodyne HGS-15s with SMS-1s bass managers, and a KEF Reference 204/2C. Probably sell th... |
