Sunfire Signature/SVS Subs and integration

Hello: I am trying to decide 1. What brand Sub to buy and 2.Whether to buy one or two? On several other forums SVS gets rave reviews and is almost always mentioned when someone asks for a sub recommendation. I notice that is not true on this froum. Does that mean most on this forum don't like SVS or that SVS enthusiasts are limited in number and don't hang around here? Or is there some other reason?

I was considering buying the M&K 350 but most people who have given me suggestions say the little Sunfire signature which costs about the same price will out perform the M&K .............for HT only purposes.I like the fact that the Sunfire is so small. If I buy one I can eventually buy two which I assume would make a much bigger impact on films. My only question is am I giving up performance for for size.My HT room is open to several other rooms and thus sub slam is important to me.

Finally, I keep reading that integration of the sub into your system is critical. Again I have heard that the M&K 350 easily integrates into the THX M&K speaker system. Is it any harder to get Sunfire or SVS integrated into such a THX system? Thank you for your time.

I have a set of SVS 16-39, self powered, subs for my HT system. Great subs at a great price. Love the sound. However, not for the Krell type crowd as they are semi-industrial looking and not expensive enough. I don't know why they are not more popular for the HT set, I have always got great service.

Zbob, I think the reason you don't hear much about svs subs on this forum is because hometheater is just not as big around here. When I am dealing with my hometheater Q&A problems I usually go to one of the other forum sites. I am in to hometheater and two channel so I hit all the forum sites. But here is what I can offer you. I think the svs subs will move the most air at the higher spl in a big room. I have never used or had one myself but all those people can't be wrong so they must be good subs. I use a very large passive sub in my system made by a company called vmps and I have been told that the svs subs are as good or better. My vmps sub will make the M&K or sunfire subs sound like toys (IMHO). Hope I helped ya.
If you can stand the way they look the SVS subs are probably the best buy in bass. If looks are a concern then sunfire is the way to go, you can't complain if you can't see it. For me, even though a svs ultra might be a better sub, but it's not worth haveing something that looks like a cat's playtoy in my livingroom. Here at audiogon everyone will tell you to get a rel, but to me they are just big and expensive. The most important factor is setup, even more important the type of sub itself.
