Squeezebox hard to see?

Thanks for the replies. I'm going with the Touch since I have a Palm Pre Plus smartphone and an iPod Touch. Surprisingly, it seems like the Touch goes for more than the Duet on eBay even though its MSRP is lower!

Get the Touch over the Duet. I've installed a bunch of Squeezebox's and the Duet seems to be the most glitchy as Cruz123 already mentioned. Then use a iTouch from Apple and voila. a music server with the controller in your hand.
Quite an amazing thing and I'm not sure how on earth they make them so inexpensively.

BTW, I run my MW Transporter with the display turned off since it's useless from my listening position.

I never had a problem with my Duet controller. It controls both my MW Transporter and Boom.

I have a SB3 and a Touch. The Touch offers the benefit of showing album art, but is not readable at my listening distance (about 10'). The SB3 lacks the album art, but I can read its scroll from my listening position. I use an Itouch with Ipeng software that allows me to see album art and control either piece from my listening position. I've owned a Duet and both the receiver and the remote were glitchy, so I would recommend the Touch and a third party remote such as the Itouch or those others have described.

Can you not change the font size? With the SB and Transporter the font can be made large enough to see from across the room.

Well my Touch is about 12 feet away from my listening chair and not readable (by me) from there. It's really only an issue when I've got Pandora or Slacker playing and I want to know what's on. Sometimes I can recognize the album art but I do find myself getting up more often to find out and this is probably good for me! It's not really an issue when playing my own stuff as I pretty much know what's on those albums.

You could always get a small pair of binoculars and keep them beside your chair.

There are a number of Squeezebox controller "apps" for various smartphone platforms... Apple, Android, and Palm/WebOS. Not sure about Blackberry. Of course, you can also control it with a laptop, or iPad.

Personally, I am using a Squeezebox Touch in my primary system, but 10 ft is my limit for being able to read the screen, so I use a Palm Pre with the "Squeeze Control" app. Works great!

Ergonomically, the Touch seems to be aimed those who are sitting near it or walking up to it. It does come with a remote. But unless you're eyes are very good, it's not very usable across a room.

I leave mine blanked anyway (for listening in the dark) and control it with iPeng on an iPod Touch.

If you can get a good deal on a Duo and don't need more than 24/48 capability, I think it sounds just as good feeding a good DAC.

Well, the Duo has a small display on the remote which you can hold in your hand and squint at. The Touch has a greatly superior display but it ain't gonna help if it is 15' away. I use the Touch but, probably, will be adding an iPad for a remote control.
