Special 40 / Contour 30 (upgrade path?)

Dynaudio Special 40s are amazing. It did take atleast 50 hours of break in (pink noise did wonders), for them to break out of their shell and they it was night and day difference. They are so wonderful and a total package  that i want to capture that magic in a slightly bigger sound because i am greedy - and because i heard 18k Legacy speakers and 23k planars at CAF and now want to have a bigger soundstage, but want to stay under 5k, used is an option. Would Contour 30 do everything they do but bigger? Or will it be a completely different sound signature? I ask because i heard contour 20s are sterile and boring compared to special 40s. Does this mean special 40s are colored or more forward than neutral speakers? If not contour 30 what small/medium tower would you recommend as a next step? Hear great things about Aerial 6T, ascend towers, etc. What about Focal electras, are those extremely forward or just highly detailed? I could always just add a sub but im in a high rise building and have a mental block with subwoofers in my environment.

The contour 20's are not boring IMO but I think are probably more amplifier demanding than the 40. I imagine a high current high wattage amp with a tube pre they would be fantastic.

From what I hear the 30 amd 60 have the same sound signature with obviously more bass, mid bass, and volume potential.
I've heard the Confidence 20 earlier this year and they sound fantastic but certainly come at a price - ~$12K.
