Sony announces three speakers

Bring the party with powerful sound and ambient illumination on the SRS-XG300 and take it anywhere you want with a handy retractable handle.

These seem like lifestyle speakers.

Sony can sometimes be very good and innovative. E g their single driver "moebius duct" SRS ZX-1 active desktop speakers were good and served me well for some years. But - did they follow it up? Not that I can see. They seem to jump from here to there.

Sony electronics are usually better than their speaker

I’d like to see a comp between the XE-200 and a Monoprice Harmony Note 100 that ports stereo to a second one without an app and plays a TF card for for less than 20% of the price.

The only Sony speakers that I've ever owned were meh.

...as long as they don't get mistaken for an energy drink can, they will be loved by some... 🤷‍♂️

Oh, well...'philes have to start Somewhere.... ;)

Not sure how Sony portable bluetooth speakers made Audiogon, but hey, I guess audiophiles go poolside just like everyone else ….

Look at the 10 discussions the OP has started since February. That will tell you all you need to know.

I bought my son a "lifestyle" Sony speaker similar to these things on this post this past Christmas for his dorm room.  As compared to what I had when I was a kid his age in the 1980's, these little speaker "pills" are incredible.  While nowhere near our audiophile standards, my son's Sony is loud and reasonably accurate in audio reproduction for a $250 toy speaker.

He had a $150 Altec Lansing speaker that was stolen prior to the Sony that I gifted him.  That $150 Altec simply cranked and had a ton of bass for what it was.  I'm pretty skeptical on these cheap toys, but these aren't bad if you need portable audio that is not for critical listening.

For listening that is not "critical", I have a Klipsch "The One" bluetooth speaker. It is surprising how good it can sound in the right room.
