Sonus Faber Concertino?

Quick question: Wasn't really in the market for more speakers, but just saw a local ad for a pair of Concertinos with matching stands, plus a SF Piccolo Solo center. Appear to be in great shape, and priced at $250 for everything. Haven't heard these before, but thought they might be worth picking up even if just for the bedroom.

Any comments welcomed! Looks like SF has been making these models for a lot of years, so they must have something good going for them. And what about the price?

Thanks, Rob

I think you can assume they are 25 years old… they were about $1K then + the center. Sonus Faber back then were very warm… and they are the bottom tier. on the other hand they cost virtually nothing. I guess make sure they are actually functional.

Excellent deal if they work well.    I had a pair of Concertinos , then Concerto many years later that were about 25 years old when i got them .   They still look and sound great, I gave them to my brother a year or so ago

They were entry level but they were better than many speakers of the era.  Very low risk.   The center alone is worth $250 as are the stands.

If they're in good physical condition and all the drivers work, go grab them.  That's a steal.  Yes, they are their smallest speakers from that time, but they can be quite nice especially if you're putting together a small office/ bedroom-type system.

They are a bit relaxed in the upper mids and lower treble region, but that's how they were voiced back then.  If everything checks out and they're in great condition, you could easily sell them for a profit if you don't like them.
