Seeking the Ultimate Reference for Tubes

Hello All:

I’m searching for the best information out there on tubes. I’ve recently taken delivery of a new Lampizator TRP dac and have been digesting every forum post ever made with regards to rolling tubes in this unit. Something that provides base pin outs as well as cross reference/substitution data would be very helpful. I have a copy of SAMS Tube Substitution Handbook and although helpful it doesn’t seem to cover everything. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Best tip would be to contact manufacturer of unit. I've done this with several pieces of kit and although occasionally it takes a little effort to finally get through to anyone who really knows their own product. Once you chat with the techs or owners the advice is often invaluable. But it does take persistence. Often multiple layers of "clerks" will attempt to "screen" your call from the intelligencia but if you're sufficiently appreciative of the product and cordial you will benefit greatly. Good luck

Pinout is available on the tube data sheet.  Just google the tube and "datasheet".

Every tube-o-phile should have a copy of the General Electric Tube Manual on hand for verifying operating voltages, transconductance, current draw . . . of the vast majority of receiving tubes.

Tube Lore II by Ludwell Sibley is fairly complete.

Contains a wealth of information.
