Scott 222C Love

I've been blessed to have a really good, expensive system that I've built over the last chunk of years. I also have a Scott 222C that I keep as a backup in case something goes wrong.

Last weekend my Lamm preamp suddenly got noisy, so out it came from the system and in went the the Scott, replacing the Lamm and an Ayon Crossfire SET Amp.

Been listening all week with my Lamm Phono Pre (I have no digital source) plugged into the Scott and I have to say I'm definitely getting 90% of the enjoyment that I normally get. It's crazy how good the Scott sounds. Quiet as can be. Great bass, wide and deep sound staging.

I think everyone should own one!

Some of the old tube gear from the 1950's and 1960's can sound quite good when it's well sorted.  I still have the Scott 350B that I inherited from my late Dad RIP 💔, which sounds quite nice.  Those were the days when everyone bought American made products and their craftsmanship was the envy of the rest of the world. 👍

It’s  funny how much of the better tube amps from the 60’s still are considered good quality today in terms of both reliability & sound quality but much of the early transistor amps from then are not.

I suppose it’s because tubes had been around for decades by then & transistors were relatively new. It makes me wonder what current technologies in today’s audio will still be considered good 30 years from now.? Good turntables are perhaps the best example of true lasting quality.

I have a HH Scott LK72 I will be breaking back out now that the cool fall weather is near.  It’s one of my treasures.  Sounds wonderful.

Yes it produces a great sound.  If you like vintage gear find an old Lafayette KT-550 power amp and really hear something special.
