To be honest, in 50 years an audiophile going all the way back to using acoustic panels in my bedroom at 13, I never once thought about the room when buying speakers. This is such a fallacy I cannot even begin to explain. But I also know it is a fallacy so widely shared as to be conventional wisdom.
The conventional wisdom is bunk. But this is you know what in the wind. Buy the speakers that sound the best that you can afford. Period. In the wind. Up a rope. Out of a boot. Etc. Etc.
