Hi dear fellows.Does anybody tried these type of connectors in power cords? In my case I don`t know which could be the differences in sound performances between them.I heard that rhodium connectors have more extended hights frequences , more airy and fluid than gold connectors, but also that they can produce a non-lively sound, with too much control.Regarding Gold connectors I red that they produce a warmer sound, specially in the mids, but with not so much detail as rhodium. Is it true?I will appreciate your comments to make a proper decision. Thanks in advance!Raf
I have never owned an Ayon cd-s2 cd-player that blew up in any electrical storm ever!, I had one of these units that blew up by way of unreliabilty within less than 90 days, the unit had infant tube failure which in turn blew out the power supply board, the dealer wanted to charge me $300.00 to fix it, the unit was under warranty, so I got a full refund for what I paid for the unit brand new from the dealer, this is the las time I need to tell you that, I have said this to you 20 times over the last year and a half, and as far as my system goes, it is one of the most musical transparent systems I ever listened to any where, my system is so transparent, I gurantee you, I can litterally move my cables around and hear a significant change in sound!, much less different outlets, and again for the last time, my speakers are NOT some $695.00 speakers!, I have alot of money tied up into these speakers, you need to stop tring to discredit me!, you are wrong with your claims, they do not exsist!
I agree with you michaelzay, the topic of this thread is connectors and outlets, I do not desire to be the topic, there is no reason for it, I have heard a substantial difference between the furutech GTX-D Gold and Rhodium on my system with many other family members, to tell me that is impossible is right out odd and strange!, you are the one who has no merit here about the difference of these two outlets, you have NEVER auditioned the two for weeks in your system, I have!
Ooops Audiolab, I forgot those speaker binding posts and replacement caps you bought, ok i'll be generous and say $1500 used then. Well that's an interesting story about your Ayon player. My comments were based on a first hand account of you telling another member your player blew up in an electrical storm after you left it on. Kind of embarassing. I think I would change my story as well if that happened to me. But to stick the US Distributor with the tab for your own carelessness was not cool.
Re your comment "I do not desire to be the topic", lol! You are a walking self-promoting topic!
As for your comments accusing me of being a hypocrit for having not a-b compared the GTX-D(R) and GTX-D(G) in my system, you have completely missed my point. You should not be making broud generalizations about the differences between the GTX-D (G) & (R) outlets when your system is not capable of acccurately assessing those differences. I don't care how much you talk up your JBL's and Vincent cd player/preamp. And, I might add, you are not capable of objectively and rationally conveying any differences you hear. You proclaim what your latest flavour of the month as "the best there is", and talk down the 'loser' like it is a model down. I mean your commentary defies physics, but nothing changes there.
As for my system. I have a much higher fidelity system than yours and you know that. It is also more neutral and able to accurately convey the difference between cables and wpo's. It's not about whether or not I have a-b compared the outlets in my system. But if I did, I could accurately describe the differences between the outlets which I would venture to suggest would be a much greater value than your misleading comments.
whatever!, go ahead, a/b the outlets then come tell us your impression's, then, I can say, I told you so, I recommend that you do it instead of argueing that I cannot hear a difference, also, I have never told anyone that my old player was damaged in an electrical storm ever, there would have been far more damage than infant tube failure and a power board to the power supply to go out, really!
you need to leave me alone!, I have not said nothing out of the way to you!, this was a very good thread until you came here to try to discredit me, I have every right to talk about these outlets that I spent weeks a/b ing,I made my pick on what works for me, do what works for you, that is all that matters!
Your system is not resolving or neutral enough to do that. It's like the blind leading the blind.Really!, I can hear a fly's wing's flap in the back ground of the music, I can hear the pages turn on the music book listening to classical, jazz, etc.., oh my mistake, $70,000.00 retail system, you go ahead and believe what ever fantasy world you live in, you have never listened to my system!, if you do not stop posting false info on me that is absolutley not true, I will report you!, if you think I cannot hear a substantial difference between outlet's on my system, something must be wrong with you, I am done talking to you!, you live in a different world, remember what I said here, one more time, and see what happens!, go about your bussiness and I will do the same, see ya!
When I read how Audiolabyrinth has build his system I see that we have a lot in common. My focus is only on the endresult. I want to create the best quality in sound possible for the money a person wants to spend. This way it is very easy to outperform other shops in audio. Many of them focus on a product often based on how much money it will make for them.
I have said it many times, when you use the best cables on the market you often can create a much highe endresult. As you know I have owned many Pass labs poweramps. By using the best powercables Purist Audio creates you can get a superior endresult.
For example: Pass Labs XA100.5 with Purist Audio Aqueous against Pass labs X250.5 with a Purist Audio limited edition. I got a better endresult with the X250.5 set.
Other example: We did a shootout with the Wadia S7i with a Heavensgate of 2000 euro against the limited with oyaide M1/F1 of over 4000 euro. With the Purist we found it 300% better in the overwhole sound. The low freq. were superior in speed, dynamic and layers. The mid was so much more involving and open. The same as the high freq, there was a lot more detail and air. The blacklevel went to a total new superior level. The sharpness of the individual focus of instruments and voices was so much more physical.
When I listen to sets of many highend owners I hear that many only get a small % out of their speakers. Often about 30-40%. Based on the lack of insight and knowledge in audio. When you don't use the best cables available you never get to the absolute sound. I have proven this for many years now.
The thing I love most in audio is that the best and most convincing sound always will win. For a perfectionist only the best is good enough. I have done a lot of research in audio for almost 17 years of time. And I still do a lot of tersting these days. I a aware that my knowledge and insight is still improving. The gap between me and my competitors is getting bigger every single year. Because most people in audio are lazy and have a low level of insight and knowledge.
At this moment my system is getting to a new level of sound. i even call it a statement in sound. Because regardless of meoney I never heard any system with this level of timing, blacks, layers, physical 3D stage and open mid with the best articulation of voices you can imagine. I even can let people hear the edge of voices wiht many different songs. In the last few weeks I have had many guests who work in audio and many said that it is the best they ever auditioned.
I have bought a professional laser of 1000 dollar. And now I can put all loudspakers on one line. Because walls are in most situations not build in a straight line. The difference was big when after I used the laser. For a perfectionist there is no room for error. It needs to get better every day and I want to outperform any other company in audio on this planet all the time.
My way of pro measurment has given me a new level of accuracy I never audiioned in any set regardless price. In the comming week I will receive 4 of the brand new Stillpoints Ultra 6 for under my Pass labs X350.5.
In about 2 weeks I will receive a full modified Onkyo PR-SC5509. We think with thsi modification and my way of measuement we can outperform any pre amp regardless price. And I am going to proof it ( even without the modification it outperformed my Pass Labs XP-20 wiht different Pass Labs poweramps. It also beat on all parts a Audioresearch Ref5SE on my 350.5 with Wel Signature xlr cables and Purist Audio powercables)
I never had so much fun in my work as I have now. Because my research gave me a big step forward compared to where I was before. I love audio for life!!
02-07-15: Audiolabyrinth remember what I said here, one more time, and see what happens!, go about your bussiness and I will do the same, see ya!
Audiolatrine, stick your warnings where the sun doesn't shine. I've saved you the trouble and reported my own post. You see, that's what you do when you've told the truth and have absolutely no regrets whatsoever about what you've said. You richly deserve it!
02-07-15: Bo1972 When I read how Audiolabyrinth has build his system I see that we have a lot in common.
LOL! Not surprising at all Bo1972. You, Audiolabyrinth, and Ddraudt are leading the new wave of audiophiles, where cables are THE most important link in the HiFi chain. All other gear, amps, speakers, front end, are all just superfluous fluff. It's not enough to believe that cables matter anymore, one's system must have 75% of it's list price dedicated to wire.
Funny how the wire bandits have warped our conceptions these days. They have come a long way from their pushing folks to spend 10% of their systems value on cables. Go ahead, put your $20K speaker cables on $700 speakers, it just doesn't matter anymore.
I am not a cable non-believer, in fact I spend well over 10% on cables/cords. However, I believe in a system being balanced. The best cables in the world can't save crap gear anymore than crap cables can help the best gear in the world. I do find it rather ironic how you are a big fan of Pass Labs and PAD, especially since Nelson Pass is not much of a cable pundit.
Hi Bo1972, The laser is an intersting idea, I have often found that what you have said about walls is really true, I to have measured the walls to be out here and there, getting speaker placement to be exact with both speakers equals a consistant sound stage, congrats Bo for a job well done, thankyou for the kind words, cheers.
Audiolabyrinth, Yes, I burned in all of my Furutech GTX-D (R) outlets on my Audioharma Cable Cooker for 700 hours. All I've experienced is constant solid music with no fluctuations. I have not gotten to the point of trying various connectors as mentioned previously. I'm just enjoting the music ;-)!
In the last 6 years I had a lot of email contact with Desmond Harrington. Her is the president of the company. Our emails are about many things what has to do with audio and their products.
70% is ridiculous, I would not go that far. What I said; my focus is on the best results possible. There are many situations that you can get a higher endresult with cables.
Audio is all about the right balance. I don't focus on how much money I can make. I want to give all my clients the best results for the money they spend.
I work most of the time with Audioquest. prices are all the same in my country. This makes it a lot easier. And yess when you have a product with a lot of discount, it doens't make sense.
I see that there are threads about Taralabs cables which never stops. Audiogon should stop this behavior. I am not here for personal benefit. Just for fun.
Bo, there is threads about many different equipment that does not never stop, give's us something to do, and share audio knowledge with each other, I am not here for personal benefit either, where other's do have a benefit by keeping their thread going.
After reading some reactions I was surprised about the words some people use. Mannnn what is happening overhere? Please some respect. I can be hard as well, but this is not a war in audio.
This website is about audio and music lovers, so use it this way!

Bo, you are the worst violator of what you are choosing to condemn now. No one on this site is more rude or condescending than you, bar none. And now you choose to be offended by this type of behavior? The single most ridiculous post I have read in a long time. It is not that I disagree with your sentiment, it is the fact that you of all people choose to deliver that message. Unbelievable.
Bo, When you talk about a laser are you talking about measuring the distance between drivers and listening position? I know you don't want to to measure from the back wall to the front or back of the speaker. That could make one speaker way off if that wall is slightly angled. Is this not common knowledge? Not sure if this is what you were referring to or not.
I can level the laser on a straight line. I see in front of the spaker a red line. This way I can put them exactly on the same line. When you measure form the wall I had a difference of 0.5cm. This does a lot with the sound, stage and individual focus. I can get a higher level in the overall sound with this tool.
In 2 days I will receive the new Ultra 6 from Stillpoints. I will write a review this weekend!
I am looking for an AC outlet with Silver plating on Copper. Waatagate used to sell those, and it seems they are going release new models. Do you know if there is any other vendor selling Silver AC outlet?
I recently replaced some of my AC plugs with Silver plated over copper NEMA/IEC and having excellent results.
I have the silver wattgate wpo's. I have the gold fi-11 on my power conditioner captive diy cable. Chris vh recommends the gtx-d(g) as an upgrade with positive gains. Mostly due to the base metal improvement. I'm nervous about it not working out, but realize I'll never know if I don't try.
Audiolabyrinth, thanks for your message. I just got back from two weeks business trip and I am planning to post a review on IEGO Silver AC connectors. So far I am very pleased with Silver plugs on my preamp. Besides, Look forward for new release of Wattagate AG Duplex Receptacle Outlet.
Gold and Rhodium outlets in my system sounds drastically different. I have modded Magnepans,
with home made foil cables for my USB, and XLR. Solid copper Litz as my power cables. Rhodium sounded Flat, Bleached Bass, with a cooler tonality. Gold Sounded more natural, and had a fuller sound, Instruments sounded more correct. I had both outlets for 2
weeks, and in the end in my application Gold
was vastly superior to Rhodium. I know this is an old thread, but anyone claiming that Gold and Rhodium outlets sound the same, either has a system not capable of showing the difference, or the are talking
without actually having listened to both outlets. Some people in this thread are owed an apology.
I prefer my Furutech Rhoduim PC’s and outlet(s) in my system. The gold sounds slow in comparison. It takes its sweet time breaking-in, and no it’s not my brain 😃
I've always enjoyed rhodium and bare red copper (unplated). Beautiful tonal balance, and relatively neutral unlike gold. btw, all of this may be academic, as the IEC bades at the inlets of our gear have cheap metals that owners have no control over. Nobody ever mentions that.
the mention of the cheap metals in the IEC's of our gear matches the cheap binding post and rca's and other items builders use to save on cost. Passlabs use Furutech binding post which is a good marketing point for me, frankly I'd like to see all the builders use name brand quality fittings. I don't like the binding post on these Bryston amps of mine, Bryston thinks they can build a fitting better than anyone else! using spades on speaker cables you can't tighten them properly, if you so much as touch the spade barrel, the furutech spade is now loose on the post!
