Repurpose or repair an old set 2.1 speakers

I got this really cheap but cool set of speakers from Logitech. The problem is with the sub which has this not detachable chord which also has a built in remote with a power button and volume knob.Either the remote doesn’t work/respond anymore or some electrical stuff inside the sub is fried. I don’t know because it happened out of the blue with no reason. Never pumped the volume to the max.

So I want to figure out a way to fix them or repurpose in a way or another. I tested the speakers and they are fine when connected to another device. Is there any chance for fix them?

Model number: Logitech Z313

I got this,...

Not "worth" fixing, but a cheap set of speakers is a great learning opportunity.

First, check out DIYaudio.com as a better resource than here.

Next, consider building a subwoofer kit from Parts Express.  I believe some have 2.1 amps.  You would build a sub,, and learn how it all fits together. :)
