I listen to only classical and jazz on my system. No home theater. I have an REL t/7i with my Tannoy Kensington speakers and First Way J2 amp.
I hear that two subs are better than one. But is that true for music or only for HT?
Thanks

REL T5 vs REL T7 subwoofers
I have a related but not quite topical question. Forgive me. I listen to only classical and jazz on my system. No home theater. I have an REL t/7i with my Tannoy Kensington speakers and First Way J2 amp. I hear that two subs are better than one. But is that true for music or only for HT? Thanks Shankha |

I just sold a T7 on the bay for $450..its mint w boxes etc..so no the T7 isnt twice the price....you need to shop correctly...we all know about cost and diminished returns ,in the stereo world its baby steps as you move up in a product line.....but in Rel,theres a quality difference between the 7 and 5 ....and a major difference between T and S series in their new products..again it depends on what your end goal is but definately worth the cost of going from a T5 to a T7 on used market, IMO...if you cant hear the diff i doubt you even need a Rel |
I have only ever experienced two stereo T5 subs, placed in the front wall corners as recommended by REL, with ohm Walsh 4s in front of them. Perfect for my tastes. With all the furniture in the room also, I haven’t had any base management issues I read about, although there really isn’t a back wall, and mostly forget the subs are there. Until I put on Eno’s Apollo |
OP, the REL T5 and its brother..the T5i are IMO the sweet spot in the T series line. Like you noted, the T7 and then the T9 are considerably more pricey. While REL have again updated their T series subs, I think the 5 series is still the sweet spot...the higher pricing of the upper models seems to make less sense. So, no, I don't think you are missing anything! |
