REL Strata III Setup - Help

I have a STRATA III and don't quite understand the directions, in particular the mode selector. I am running a 2 channel system with Dali MS5 speakers. It is not clear to me whether the mode should be LFE or Line. Or if it should be "180 DEG" or "0" as far as phase goes. Reference page 5 of the instructions where they "explain" this. Just wondering if any of you have advice in this area? Thanks for your help.

One of the pages in the manual - which you can obtain online - gives step by step instructions. Get it and do it, carefully. It gives amazing results.

After work I could write this out this evening from memory! I don't have the time at the start of the work day alas.

If you follow the steps you can arrange for the sub to match seamlessly to the main speakers. My guests ALWAYS say this sounds GREAT but I can't hear the sub. Then I turn off the sub, and they are like OH.

I have REL subs in 3 rooms of my house.

As I recall, FIRST you test the phase by arranging for the sub sound to overlap the mains. ......

I also purchased a test cd from Stereophile that has a track with bass notes, 15 seconds each, at specified intervals. A test cd like this is IMMENSELY helpful although not absolutely necessary.

Sumiko has set up made simple and set up made simpler on their web site. They recommend the soundtrack from "Sneakers" to use to set up. I got it on Amazon and it is useful but any recording with repetitive bass will work.
Just be forwarned that if you are running a balanced system or mono amplifiers that you can connect the two channels together if you are not careful with the speakon connectors. This basically turns your system into a mono system, something you may not notice immediately if you are running with a 2-channel amp versus a pre-pro where you can run a speaker level test (doing this reveals this issue, ie. when just the left front speaker is supposed to play, you also hear equal noise from the right front speaker).
I went to the Sumiko site and the manual they have online has much more information than the thin manual that came with the Strata 3.

Thanks for all the input! I will be trying it out.
