Record Cleaning Machine ~ Ultrasonic vs. Rest

According to the RCA vinyl record patent 1498409551006799538-03960790- the PVCa copolymer equals 96.2%.  The remaining ingredients are varied in purpose and specified with reasons for each additive and its concentration.  The heat stabilizer is described as follows:  

One-and-six-tenths percent of an organotin salt (resin stabilizer) is included in the compound to neutralize the generation of hydrogen chloride gas (which is produced by partial decomposition of the polyvinyl chloride resin) when the compound is pressed into a record at the normal pressing temperature. The presence of hydrogen chloride gas creates blisters and voids under the record surface and in the record surface, which cause noise when the record is played.

Update: My Degritter Mark II arrived a couple of days ago, and it’s been pure fun revisiting records that used to have surface noise, ticks, and pops. Now they play ultra clean and far more enjoyably. Honestly, this might be one of the best decisions and investments I’ve made for enjoying analog long-term.

I only wish I’d ordered it sooner. Whatever your current cleaning routine is, if you want a truly hands-free, set-and-forget solution, the Degritter is hard to beat.

I ordered mine with single tank but going to order 2nd tank to take advantage of 2 tank rinse wash functionality. 

Honestly, this might be one of the best decisions and investments I’ve made for enjoying analog long-term.

I’m not surprised, many reported noticeable sonic improvements after moving to a URCM.  For grimy vinyl, a prewash before is advised as URCM may not clean it all.  Also, some found benefits with a rinse n dry after the URCM.

Exactly!  And it also gave me an opportunity to weed out records I no longer want to keep, freeing up space for new additions to the collection :-)
