Yes & No. Depends on amp. You usually want to use the same brand/type of power tube for sonic reasons, if no other. Each brand/type has its own identifiable contribution. Small tubes in a power amp should also be the same brand in each type for sonic reasons. But you don't need to use the same brand for different types.
Some amps have auto bias curciuts for sets of power tube, some amps have auto bias for each tube, some amps have manual bias for a quad, a pair, or individually.
When you have to use in an auto bias curcuit a pair or a quad you definitely want matched tubes. When you can manually set the bias for each tube individually you do not 'need' matched tubes. It doesn't hurt, and if you're buying new production getting tubes matched for bias is usually free.
