Pittsburgh, PA Audio Club

My last posting yielded 357 views and no responses. Clearly I did not identify a compelling value prop.

So here..

You live in Pittsburgh (or surrounding area) and you want to find others who share in your hobby. You know, the others who won’t laugh at you or feel your forehead when you state your intentions on buying a $200 wall outlet. You are growing tired of emailing with reps at the big online audiophile retailers to see if a piece of equipment will be the holy grail upgrade you are seeking.

Maybe you are only into the music, maybe you are only into the equipment or just maybe you are into both.

Wouldn’t it be great to meet up periodically with others at a local audio equipment shop to share in the hobby as well as to demo various configurations of equipment? This might be a possibility as i’ve had some preliminary discussions with someone who can make this happen. I look forward to your response should you want to help make this happen as well.

Thanks,

Aaron

I am going to be in Pittsburgh from September 16th to the 19th and on Saturday will be meeting up with an audiophile friend of mine from there named Jim. He will be inviting local audiophiles of which he is aware and we'll be meeting up at Michael Klein's shop aptly named Stereo Stereo. The shop's location:

708 Warrendale Village Dr Warrendale, PA, US 15086
Saturday, September 17, 2:00 PM

Website: Stereo Stereo Pittsburgh

If you are around and are local (within reason) do feel free to stop on by.

Let’s put one together. Seems like we have a handful of people just from this thread to get it started. I was part of an audiophile group when I lived in NJ and it was a lot of fun. I currently live in Butler County.
I found this thread on October 25, 2021.
So what is the status of this group?  Do you meet?
I live in the eastern section of Pittsburgh.
Thanks.
Anyone interested in cartridge setup using analogmajik too much to spend myself but would love to share.

I just discovered this thread and I'm interested as well. Has there been anything organized yet?
I'd be interested. While I was a member of the component of the month club decades ago, I'm just upgrading my system for the first time in several decades.  Anyone interested message me.
I would be interested. We used to have a get together at Vintage HiFi of Pittsburgh but its out of business now. There is one stereo store left. Music to my Ear. I have worked as a repair guy and sales for most of the stereo stores in Pittsburgh including Opus One and I bought my speakers (Acoustats) from Tasso the owner and when he saw my stuff he hired me on the spot.
I’ll be living in the city soon, I’d be very interested in getting together.
I'm in the North Hills and interested. And, by the way, the Pittsburgh Symphony is hardly "under rated".
Ok so maybe the first step is to pick some place central as a meet and greet?   Downtown on a Wednesday could be low impact to people’s schedules and I’d think we’d want at least 4 or more folks.   I’m open to ideas here.
I can't join you, but grew up in the 'Burgh. Opus One was the "place"- i slung gear for a little while, and knew a lot of folks in the audio scene there back in the early '70s. Haven't been back in a long while. Regards,

Count me in for the next get together.  I live in Ben Avon Heights, just a few miles west of town.  Nothing earth-shaking to bring to the table, just a hodge-podge of vintage and new gear and decent HTPC skills.

I had the pleasure of hearing the PSO play "Rhapsody in Blue" conducted by the late Marvin Hamlisch in 2012 for "The Gershwin Experience".  They are among the best!
Looks like we have some responses...as it would just be a few of us, I may look to have a listening session at my place in Sewickley. I’ll be back in touch. Thanks all.
I'm in East Liberty!   Just got an Edwards Audio Apprentice TT1 mk2 and Turntable Lab: Rolls VP 29.TTL preamp.  Excited to start pawing through the stacks at Jerry's in Squirrel Hill.
I'm in Upper St. Clair- definitely interested!

Funny note - I purchased 1 owner Revel Studio 2s last summer from David Michael Audio near Detroit - when I checked the original boxes they were shipped to the original owner in Mt Lebanon!  that would have saved a long drive - but that's at least one more local person who is into this!
I just ran across this posting this evening. I'd be interested. Did anything ever come to fruition?
