Pear Audio's Kid Thomas Owners - What is your experience?

Hi - looking into getting me a Kid Thomas TT with the external power supply.  I've read reviews but wanted to hear from some of the owners before I made the commitment.  Thanks in advance.

I used to be a dealer for Pear Audio.  I had a couple of customers that wanted to use tonearms w/ removeable headshells.  No problem.

If you use a tonearm of the same geometry (length) and can be center post mounted, you can find a way to adapt the stock arm puck.  If you need something different Pear Audio will drill a custom arm puck for you.  As I recall it takes approx. 3 weeks as they come Slovenia but it's not too expensive.  You are pretty much limited to 9"-10" length tonearms on the Kid Thomas.  If you wanted to use a transcription-length arm you could consider making an offboard weighted pillar.

Nottingham Analog used to say exactly the same about their tables and arms.

Plenty of members have swapped out arms on NA tables with excellent results.

I would likely have changed the arm and see what happened.
But good luck with the kuzma.
It was good - I enjoyed listening to it while I had it.  I got more interested in tonearms like the Kuzma 4P (I thought the 9 inch version would work well w/ the Kid Thomas) and Reed 3P, but didn't have the knowledge to do it myself.  I didn't get support from the mfr that claimed that the Cornet arm and the Kid Thomas were designed as a whole system and that any other combo would not be recommended.  So I traded it in for a Kuzma Stabi R and 4P tonearm. For a $10k table/arm (retail), I'd say it performed well above tables in the same price range. Extremely quiet and well designed - I thought it was a good looking table. There are tons of reviews out there from top reviewers which you can Google - Fremmer has reviewed it for Stereophile and preferred it over the Palmer table (I'm paraphrasing), which is similar in design.  If I could've installed better (subjective) or different tonearms -  I'd have kept it. I used the Dynavector XV-1S and ZYX Universe II carts w/ the table.
