Parasound Halo JC 1+

I currently have Parasound JC 1+ monoblock amps that I’ve had for 10 years and have loved every minute with them for all the reasons you commonly read. For my ears, they’re awesome.

I’m seriously thinking about trading them in for the new JC 1+ model. The reviews have been great and my dealer swears by them. Does anyone have the JC 1+ and, if so, what do you think?

You said you have JC1+ amps and want to trade them in for JC1+ amps.  Doesn’t make any sense.

Thanks, my error — a type. I currently have JC 1 amps, looking at upgrading to JC 1+.

Thanks for the note.

Have you been able to hear them?  As side by side comparison between yours and the new model would be the best option.

What’s the difference between the JC1 and the JC1+ that would make you want to go through all the hassle of trading?

Fair question — the JC 1+ has more power and more Class A power (up to 25 watts). Overall, the JC 1+ has a larger sound, more heft, and better dynamics. There are some good reviews (especially Stereophile) that delve into the difference in specs and performance. And despite their high price, they’re still a good value when compared to other high power amps.

That anyone would not be able to figure out that OP was asking for comparisons of the JC1s he has had for 10 years to the JC1+ that has been out for only 4 years is sad.

@jetter,

Speak for yourself. You have made many questionable and laughable posts.  If you like, I can post links to them so we can all get a chuckle or two.  I do not follow Parasound so I didn’t know there were two different amps. Do you feel better now?

I think a lot has to do with how demanding your speakers are; can they use the extra power?

I read the Stereophile review of the JC1+, what struck me the most was the price jump of the new amps vs. the old.

BTW: in the 2003 review of your JC1 by Michael Fremer he states that the amp runs in class A ’up to 25 watts’ so no change there.
