Try a battery. Any 1.5 to 9V will work. It should make some sound when you connect it. Polarity doesn't work, and the voltage is so low it's safe.

No sound - Please Help
One of my floorstanding speakers just stopped working and I cannot figure out why. I did move them to another room but took care not to jostle them. I switched cables as well as tried different speaker outs on my integrated. Nothing. There is no hiss or crackle - just complete silence. Any ideas?
