newer CD player w/DAC that could replace AMR CD-77.1

I am looking for help in determining what modern built cd player with the capability to be used as a DAC to stream music could equal or better the sound produced from an AMR CD-77.1 cd player.

The AMR is an older component that cannot be serviced for any and all breakdowns, that said I am looking to find out what short list I can put together of players which can equal the sound quality of this amazing player. I would be interested also if maybe a stand alone dac is available which could suffice as well?

REGA ISIS cdp/DAC or better still REGA ISIS VALVE cdp/DAC

each unit sold has two matched ( 2) lasers on reserve at REGA to bulletproof you going fwd.

What is your budget?  I would encourage your to look at Canor for tube units or Cyrus for SS.  These are just objectively good CD players but might offer a different suggestion depending on your budget.

Will you be playing SACDs?

I recently learned, most SACD/CD players read a SACD’s higher resolution DSD content, but then internally convert DSD to PCM CD Redbook resolution, that’s what goes to the preamp. Advantage of recording DSD is retained, but not advantage of DSD out.

I’m searching for SACD players that output DSD without conversion to PCM. In your search for one that can stream, if you find it's also no DSD/PCM internal conversion, please let me know.

Your CD player sets a pretty high bar.  I think you’ll have many more options going for a DAC, and that would depend on what sound characteristics you’re looking for.
