NEW Cerious Technologies Upgrade - Graphene Matrix Cables

CT Graphene Matrix Cables:

I have been using the CT GE cables for almost two years.
I recently traded up for a full loom of CT Graphene Matrix cables, including speaker, interconnect and PCs, and I wanted to share my experience. I started by replacing only the ICs to try and hear the differences.

The new Matrix interconnects sounded better than the GE immediately after install. I found the original Graphene Extreme ICs to be good but not on the same level as the outstanding GE speaker cables. As break-in started to clear things up, I can hear more clarity and detail not heard before. The ICs are incredible on their own and at the 30 hour mark, I can hear a clear superiority over the GE ICs. I recently started using the Teo Game Changer ICs and preferred them over GE but the Teo has now fallen to the new Graphene Matrix ICs. My Teo’s were and are great, and it is stunning to experience Cerious Technologies commitment to making great technology better.

On the third day of listening to the GM ICs. I couldn’t wait anymore, Having too much fun. I then installed the speaker cables and power cords once I had a pretty good feel for the sound of the GM ICs.

With the full loom of GM cables running in they are going through some strange changes and definitely need time to settle down before realizing what they can really do and very important Bob says to not move them. Since I have a home office I can let them run in all day. I’m at around 120 hours now and they are still improving. Here’s what I’m hearing:

Extended highs and tighter lows.
More detail and better low level listening
Drums are tighter, more clearly defined. So real is the snap of the snare drum. The bass has more depth, seemingly goes deeper, lower. This aspect stands out the most.

I am not in the industry, I’m not an engineer, I don’t work for Cerious Technologies, but I am a fan of the cables and am enjoying what my system is capable of.

I’m closer to my own pinnacle of sound reproduction than ever before.

And don’t forget the interconnects. The Matrix is a huge step up. Much better than the Teo I had.
Tuffy72561,

Yes I have been able to now use the CM on m y mono blocks and complete the entire loom. Excellent sound, very happy. The GE's are still very good, actually better than most other cables.

genjamin,

Congrats, You should be impressed, I know I was.

jsm71,

Yes, I agree the speaker cables are awesome.

ozzy

@genjamon I only did the upgrade with the speaker cables since I feel they offer the best bang for the buck.  You are in for a treat however, as I'm sure you've already read here.  The Matrix SCs do sound better right out of the box.  With time, they amaze.  Please report back your impressions.
@genjamon sounds like fun, you lucky guy!
I'm betting that the Matrix gear out of the box is going to be an improvement. Please be sure to share your thoughts with us here.
Bob says my 4 Matrix PC's and set of Matrix SC's should be shipping Monday.  Can't wait to compare them to my GE PC's and SC's!
Yep...who needs to go to the gym when can just lift huge bags of money to keep in shape. The bags read "Bank of the Land of OZ..." on them!

Bob
thezaks, Dave,

Glad he got back to you. I think he responds to me because I have bought so many cables from him that he was able to take a $$$ cruise... Just kidding of course!

ozzy
I would suggest patience - they are definitely busy.  Bob always gets back to me - whether right away or a little bit of a wait, and Bob is absolutely terrific to work with - tremendous support and service.  Super nice guy and a family business that cares about the product and the customer.

Dave

@gwng8 , sometimes they are slow responding yet they always do. This is a small company dealing with huge demand. They are very busy and believe me its worth the wait.
the only reason I don't have a full set is cost...picked these two cables based on experience, guesswork and message from Bob...
@jl35 any reason not to do the Power cables as well? Anything you can call out on differences between the GE speaker cables and interconnects vs GM?
I like that name - Sonic Hologram Projector. In reality, while Bob’s GM prices are definitely a big step above the GE prices, there’s a huge amount of cables out there that are X times more expensive than the GM prices. And, from the feedback here, it seems that Bob’s cables are better, so they present a tremendous value.

Good to see Bob come up for air and post here. I’ve sent him two emails (to purchase a power cord) over the past 8 days without a response. I’m sure he’s busy (although it seems that he’s responding to ozzy :-)

Dave
for those looking to start slow, I had a full set of the GE, just put in Matrix speaker cable for mid/hi of bi-wire, and Matrix XLR from CD to pre,  sounds great...
Sonic Hologram Projector would make a great name for your next line of cables Bob.  ;)

The Matrix sc’s and pc’s really are special and I’m glad to have found a cable that does it all and that are made from a great guy too! Congrats on all this praise Bob, you deserve it.
I'm afraid to tell my friends how much i pay for a piece of wire. It would eliminate all doubt regarding my sanity, or lack thereof.
droleg,

Go ahead make the investment in your personal pleasure and help the economy recover. (As the devil whispers in your ear...)

No seriously,  I know its a tuff call to make. Perhaps you can sell your present cables to lessen the $$$ pain. And I think you can get a better price if you buy several at a time.

ozzy
Thanks Larry, makes me want to run out and complete the loom. Now , all i gotta do is hit the Powerball.
thezaks, lak,

Hopefully I will get the Matrix power cords by the end of the week.
lak thank you for your review.

ozzy
I burned in a Matrix power cord on my cable cooker for a friend and I currently have it on my Plinius Reference SA amp. I've had many high-end power cords on that amp and they have all sounded good however the Matrix definitely is at the top of the list. I noticed better overall tone, a tightening of the bass and wider more holographic soundstage.
Darn you Bob Grost, now I have to add a Matrix power cord to the list of Matrix items I want to purchase.
Ozzy, I can't wait to read what the 3/M Matrix power cords do for your momo-blocks!
@ozzy - I'll be curious the difference it makes by changing out the power cords for your amps.

Dave

ozzy,                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                Agreed!
Wow! Ozzy that’s quite a compliment for the Matrix power cable and Bob!
Bob evidently can make the Matrix power cords 3 meters long.

So, I finally ordered the last power cords for my mono blocks to complete the total loom with all Cerious Technologies Matrix.

Hopefully this will be the last cables I will need and the total investment will be worth it. I truly love this cable line it has so much "life" and "wholeness" that all cables that I used before the Matrix could never achieve,

ozzy
t_ramey,

I still am using the DPS-4 with my tube amps and I like them very much. Mine have the Furutech nano connectors. Since I have all my other cables now to be Cerious Matrix there is definitely a synergy with the loom.
Someday, I would like to get a 3 meter pair of the Cerious Matrix power cords for my mono blocks. (I don’t think Bob makes them that long yet).
However, that will need to wait until I rob the stagecoach.

ozzy
ozzy-

What's your impression of the loom of Matrix vs the DPS-4 you've had? I'm getting my second Matrix pc soon in a couple of days so still a ways away from a full loom.
thezaks,

The Matrix have what I call the muscular factor.
That is; more substance, more bass, midrange, treble, and  presence. It is quite a dramatic contrast to the Cerious Extreme. Which is not a bad cable, I loved it. That is until I heard the Matrix.
The negative factor being the extra cost and having to again lie to my wife. (LOL).

ozzy
@ozzy - I thought the GE XLR interconnects were really good.  What improvements are you hearing with the GM XLR interconnects?

Dave

gwng8,

I hear ya, but the Matrix does sound substantially better. In addition, the interconnects use the (more expensive) shadow XLR connectors.

ozzy
So the new graphene matrix (1m) costs $1449 (XLR), while the original graphene extreme (1m) costs $349.  That is one hell of a price jump!  Like 4 TIMES AS MUCH!  There is no way, NO WAY, the performance can be 4 times as good as the original.
thezaks...correct..i was comparing the SS 'reference' pc to the GE CT pc..not the Matrix...as I could not get that to fit. The SS 'reference' IS much better then the CT GE..as it should be...It may be that the Matrix pc is even better but I will never know that..I am sure Bob's Matrix cord is very good..
One has to pay a lot more dollars for a little bit of improvement.
Of course, I admit that I've been guilty of that.
Just saying... ;-)
Agreed - calloway mentioned the GE PC, not the Matrix; hence, the reason for the comment originally.

In looking  at the SS website, a 2M Signature PC goes for either $1550 or $1790 (high current version), whereas Bob's Graphene Matrix goes for $1049.  I could see a Signature used for around the price of the GM.

However, the SS Music Reference PC goes for either $2985 or $3375 (high current version).  That's three times the price of Bob's GM PC's.

Comparing the ~$3K SS Music Reference PC to the ~$300 GE PC - well, if it's not significantly better (or at least somewhat better) at 10X the price.....

Dave

Jmcgrogan2, calloway was comparing the Graphene extreme pc to the SS not the Matrix, so he was comparing to a $300 cord.

thesaks, my thoughts exactly. Comparing a $3000 pc to a $300 pc isn’t a fair comparison.
I wonder how the SS Reference PC would do vs. the Matrix PC?  At least the Matrix PC is closer to the price-point and probably a fairer comparison than the GE PC's.

t_ramey...go to the SS website and email Frank Dickens..who is Mr. SS Audio...I got a fairly good deal. I have done a lot of business with Mr.Dickens, including SS cables in the past and my Lumin A1 player...He may give you a fairly good deal too..Dave
@calloway

Where did you order the Silent Source pc’s? I just looked at The Cable Company and they have the Reference pc for almost $3k.
Thanks guys for your thoughts. I borrowed an audio friend of mines Silent Source 'Reference' power cords to try against the CT Graphene Extreme and the difference/improvement was significant. I have ordered a pair of them to replace the GE pcs.
