Network DAC suggestions? Wiim Pro? ...

I am looking for Network DAC (NDAC) for my computer desktop system, so near field listening, with Denon bookshelf speakers, nothing fancy. I don't do any web-streaming of any kind.

Signal paths in it should be able to handle is

A) Roon -> LAN -> NDAC   B) Computer - USB - NDAC   C) iPhone airplay - NDAC

out: NDAC -> single ended line out to either amp-speakers or headphone amp (Woo WA6 SE with upgraded WE422; Dan Clark Ether 2), selected via Tisbury SE switch.

The Wiim Pro seems to check all boxes, possibly with exception of switchable op amps. Anything else to consider? Not opposed to tubes/tube rolling either. Should not be too large, so something with a Wiim footprint (or smaller, set on side) would be good.

Currently using a Topping D50 with busted display, and Roon from my DTP computer keeps dropping, so want to go form dedicated Roon server - LAN - NDAC as Roon endpoint directly.

Price: Definitely <$1K. so Wiim Pro at $250-ish sounds good. Could go with or without built-in amp (should be able to drive 6 ohm speakers at low levels).

TIA

If you need RC/PEQ, go with Wiim, but definitely get a good external DAC because their internal DAC leaves much to be desired. If you have a Topping D50 and it’s the original version, consider upgrading it— for example the D50 III is much better.

If you don’t need RC/EQ and prefer a unified streamer/DAC, go with the Cambridge MXN10 or CXN100. Both offer better sound quality (cleaner, better defined edgy) than the Wiim while still staying within your budget.

I’m loving my Wiim Ultra ( wanted the ability to have music on a USB drive)

Using it with a MHDT Stockholm v2 DAC and 4 watt tube amp. sounds very very good :)

@lanx0003 The Cambridge MXN10 looks interesting. Balanced out as on CXN100 is not justifiable, and box is too big. Remote control or PEQ is not necessary at all.

The OG Topping D50 was something I had sitting around.

@grinnell Thanks for seconding the rather underwhelming performance of the Wiim DAC. However, I prefer fewer boxes (and cables). This is for my computer work desk, not my main system where I have a Holoaudio May L2 DAC.

@lanx0003 LOL! Thanks for the clarification of your intent and my mis-reading! For near-field listening room correction is certainly irrelevant.

I think wiim mini might just be fine.
