My upgrade

I started this quest several years ago. I started with acquiring a Linn Majik DSM, Martin Logan ESL 11A's, I used the Linn as a streamer, Dan and amp and was fairly happy. I also use Kimber Kable speaker wires. I eventually added a Peachtree Nova 300 amp. I used the Linn as a steamer and line source and was a little happier. I added a Parasound JC5 today and am blown away with the sound I am getting. The Linn is now my streamer, dac, and preamp. I will be keeping this amp but am wondering where do I go from here. I'm playing with the idea of a pair of subs either Martin Logan Balanceforce 210's or a pair of REL's advice please

ricmech23,

I find the JC5 to be much clearer, The kids sound much fuller and pronounced. The stereo separation is greater and pronounced. The soundstage also sounds fuller and richer. I can’t say its bigger but it is livelier. Thanks for your interest

OP, Can you describe the difference you’re hearing  with the JC5 vs the Peachtree? I used to have a Nova 300 so I’m curious how much different it is.

Yery happy with my BalanceForce 212, but if you want a larger sweat spot, two or four separates might be better. It’s just me listening and where I sit is perfect.

Dual sub's are something near and dear to my heart. Pick a sub that you subjectively like "just because", and then a sub that technically comes across as a top tier option given your price range. Audition them both and see what your ears think.

budget is iffy but I work hard at saving for a preamp I am looking at the Manley 300B preamp

I have a pair of REL subwoofers in the house...one for HT and one for my 2-channel system. I highly recommend them for clean, powerful bass.

You can’t go wrong with a pair of BalanceForce 210. I hope you take time to enjoy the music and not just upgrading. Life is too short, before you know it, it will already be tomorrow. Either way, have fun.

I do agree with at least a pair of subs, but @russ69 brings up a great point by upgrading to complimenting preamp.  There are many to choose from. First thing you’ll need to figure out is budget. From the subs you are looking at, I’m guessing you have a healthy budget?

I will be keeping this amp but am wondering where do I go from here.

A high buck tube preamp.
