On music playback, what is the best way with the best sound to my preamp. Here are my choices: Cell phone with music downloads,Sony Hi-rez Walkman,Sony UBP-X1100es blu ray player,Usb drive and lastly a portable hard drive. All have the same music files{flac}.The cell phone is connected with a 3.5mm to twin rca outs, same with the Sony Walkman,Sony dvd player is HDMI or Rca outs and the hard drive is USB.thanks.

Hi Guys.I got the problem sorted out. Because of the pandemic I have some of my equipment in storage and tried simpler portable sources..Here is what I came down to:The cell phone worked great, even though it was NOT an iPhone as MillerCarbon would like..,I wanted to use mine because of the ESS Sabre Quad Dac.The Walkman didn't have any sound what-so-ever.Nothing.I tried 3.5 MM and USB connections.Nothing.The USB hard Drive kept saying no playable files,so nothing there either. The USB drive worked great but not sounding as well as the phone. Thanks guys for your suggestions and those that offered help. These trying times forced me to go outside my comfort zone and try something new. Cheers!
Hey Thanks Guys!!!!!! was unsure where  to post, next will be in the Digital forum. Will try to respond this week to each when I get time. Thanks again.
Hi,
HDMI should give you the best possible sound, as 3.5mm is a limiting factor.
Still you can have a better quality of the 3.5mm if you DIY with better connectors and cable.
You should post your question in the Digital forum. You should get more knowledgeable answers instead of the useless answer that you received from MC!
I can only dream of the day I have so many sublime choices for digital, uh, music. Which cell phone? I bet its an iPhone. Always wanted an iPhone.
