I saw him once at the Village Vanguard, and one of the people in our group was so inspired they went back and quit their day job to pursue jazz piano. TotHat to Mulgrew.
Yes he was a top tier jazz pianist and I'm grateful that I was able to see him perform live on several very memorable occasions. I'll always have recordings of his to play and deeply enjoy. His jazz educational videos on you tube are so well done and interesting. This is a sad and premature loss.My thoughts and sympathy to his family . Regards,
