Moon neo 310lp combined AT art 9

Hi,

Currently using Moon 350p with internal phonocard.
Source is thorens td2001, at art9 mc. Great.
But will an external preamp like moon neo 310lp give me more to enjoy? Caught my interest this amp.
What will be significant differences?
Any experience regarding these components are welcome!

Moon Neo 310LP in house for demo.
I expected some improvement, but the difference between on board phono and external 310LP is above all expectations. So much more dynamics, soundstage and power throughout all freq range. Quiet, no distortions. I put it 100ohm, 66db. Think Vinyl and art9 now shows me what analog is capable of. Great unit!

nice options, thanks, eastern electric is indeed distributed in nl. Positive reviews here. Still, i rate the Moon neo also very high, and it's got some recent upgraded internal power supply. Convienent, low noise, balanced output..
So still on #1 listed.

But it is very interesting to check other options. Reading reviews. Specially those which can create jump in transparency and dynamics.
I found an Allnic distributor in Germany, so i try to gather some more info on this h1201 beauty.
My preamp 350P accept rca as well as xlr at linelevel.

I didn't realize that link is probably useless to you since you're in Holland.
Nevermind.

Otherwise, A friend has one of these, perhaps there's a distributor somewhere in Europe. Nice sounding unit, especially for the price. US price in your budget .

"Good" or realistic sonics is subjective. I personally hear tube gear as more convincing. Vocal and acoustic instruments in particular always seem to win in a side to side comparison.

Comparing SS to tube on technical paper specs, SS perhaps may appear superior in some areas. But in the end, what comes out of your speakers matters the most. That said, the Allnic IMO will be more realistic sounding compared to a $ 1700 US. SS unit. NOT  an apples to apples comparison, just addressing your question.

I suggested the following listing in another thread, but you need XLR out, which this doesn't offer. But if you can up the budget and use RCA's, I'd offer the guy 1900-2000, and you'll have a unit better sounding than any $1700 SS piece. A used Allnic goes for a bit more, and this unit may be on the same/close to on a performance level .

'I found going from a SS phono to tubed the game changer. If you read reviews of high dollar SS units, its often mentioned how it sounds tubed. You put up with a little noise for "real" over a decent SS unit. In my case, I need to crank the volume up to 12:00 o'clock to hear hiss, and I just don't do that'

@ Tablejockey..this caught my attention. Could you share some thoughts about comparable tube phono amp is this range?T
Should some amp like Allnic H 1201 bring more to the party than around 1500 euro ss amp?
XLR output is missjng in that case.
Thanks Steve, and others, I could not find much reviews, so much appreciated, this first hand feedback!

Ooops - forgot to answer your question - what will the differences be?

Other than the enhanced settings you will likely experience a larger image, deeper bass with improved bass control, improved clarity.

But it all depends on your cartridge.

Good luck - Steve
very happy with my 310lp.  I have found Simaudio to be very helpful on the phone, so give a call...
P.S I just noticed there is also the 320S power supply for the 310,

But as stated above - with a good power cord the 310 performs extremely well and there is no second box to take up additional room

Regards...
I have the Simaudio MOON LP5.3 RS Phono Stage and it is superb. The 310 looks identical (internally) from the photos I’ve looked at

The card in the 350p shares the power supply - the 310 has it’s own excellent power on-board supply and the circuitry of the 310 will be superior.

You have more flexibility WRT the cartridges you can use - the 310 is very configurable for both MC or MM

It responds very well to good power cables - i don’t feel I need to get the separate power supply that is available with the 5.3.

My 5.3 is extremely quiet - only a slight hiss (no hum) at full volume

It will be in my system for a very long while

I’m a happy camper :-)

Regards - Steve

No experience with your gear, except the ART 9. Fantastic value cart(for the 1k price point) with my tubed phono amp.

The Simaudio gears appears to be quality SS gear. Likely, the onboard phono stage delivers a good amount of their stand lone unit. Advantage being one less box and cables.

With that in mind, the value you put on the possibly minor/subtle improvement becomes the issue. Note I prefaced minor/subtle  with possibly. Someone may chime in with experience with similar gear and actual results.
